According to Pinacc 4 hours before they dealt JVR they could have had Yandle...I like Luke too but Yandle would have brought a different dynamic. - flyerfan28
I call BS on this. |

If "young" #1 defensemen are a rare commodity and that is our thinnest area then why does he need to be fired? Phx knows the value of D and are going to exploit it. We are dealing from a position of weakness. - mikel33
Because Yandle is not great defensively and not a true #1. |

With the Flames it has been Feaster, Famine. |

Caught this on Twitter. Dustin Leed RT someone named Kelly Friesen who said that Brian Lawton said when he was the GM in Tampa the Flyers called him about dealing Giroux for Paul Ranger.

Could be...I remember hearing more of this though I dont have facts or sources so I cant really say it went down like that. I dont think it would have taken much more than JVR though. Will be interesting to see if the Flyers can land him. |

When the Flyers are in the thick of things heading into the playoffs, I always tried to get the TSN feed, but not this year.
Now, I'm just watching twitter just hoping they don't do anything stupid. - johndewar

I can almost guarantee that they asked for Sean Couturier, with his Phoenix roots and all. |

I don't think we're dealing from a position of weakness. The Flyers can very, very easily walk away from the table when it comes to Yandle. |

If you can't trust one of the biggest busts in NHL draft history (Lawton), then what else do we have? |

Exactly. If it's Coots for a true #1 defenseman, then yes. |

And PHX would be fine with that hence us being in a position of weakness |

I would love for the Flyers to swindle Curtis Glencross from the Flames. He's comes with a very reasonable cap hit. Would be a very good player for the Flyers. |

That's not even close to a position of weakness, in my opinion. We'd be in a position of weakness if we had no choice but to make this kind of trade. As it stands, I don't think the Flyers are under any pressure at all to pick up a Yandle. It's not like we're trying to round out a cup contender here. |

Same reason they're not looking at Stamkos or Kopitar, I'd think. |
