Meanwhile inother news, Jay Feaster has traded Kiprusoff, Giordano, Glencross,3 1st round picksand the keys to the city of Calgary to the Islanders for RickDiPietro, a Denis Potvin retro jersey and a ham and cheese sammich! - BiggE
To be fair, the Potvin retro jersey was REALLY nice. |

How quickly you forget the Upshall for Carcillo deal of the century. - jmatchett383
I completely and utterly hated that deal even though I understood why it was made. |

I'm not even sure I'd move more than Read for him. He's a good offensive guy, but I still have issues with the average defensive play and lack of physicality. - Jsaquella
And there enlies the problem. We don't have much to offer lower than Read that isn't complete poop.(No disrespect to Mr.Read)
Laughton and a 3rd? I don't know, I'm not seeing much I can come up with. |

Get a high pick this team could use pretty badly? Some fan you are. - hereticpride
I get the desire to win.. I want them to win every game, but right now... with how the season has progressed, and how desperately we need a top end d-talent... I think a high pick could really help in a few different ways...
Say we end up picking 5th... Nurse is still on the board... boom we just added a top end defensive talent. Kid is big.. will likely end up around 6'5 220... and can play both ends very well. Doesnt back away from the physical game either.
Say we end up picking higher.. 3rd. Jones and MacKinnon are gone, but we end up with Drouin. Kid is very similar to G. Great hands. Great vision. Makes everyone around him better 105 points in 49 games this season. a bit tenacious, and skates very well.. By adding him you potentially have the ability to move a forward... whether its Schenn, or Voracek or whoever.. idk, but you could move a forward for a d-man.
OR we end up drafting #1 and take Seth Jones-Orr-Pronger-Harvey-Lidstrom |

Yandle is Paul Coffey, when he played for the Flyers.
- MBFlyerfan
I was thinking he is like Jbow
not as bad as people want to make him out to be in Calgary, but not as great as he was made out to be in Florida. |

Preaching to the choir. You're going to get insulted for that mindset here though because real fans always root for wins even when they don't matter. |

I think his weaknesses on defense are a bit overblown to be honest.. I think he is a bit too aggressive, but that's the risk that you take with a 50 point offensive d-man. Im not saying lets do it.. but i wouldnt over pay for him today.
EDIT: And also, with the surplus of strictly stay at home guys.. it could be a good addition |

They you wait. There's no need to rush into a Yandle deal where you overpay for him at the TDL. |

Over/Under 16 trades today? |
|
|
|
If the Flyers could get a 3rd for Feds and a 3rd for Gagne they should do it. The downside is Homer would be telling the team they're done. The upside would be 2 3rds to aid in off season dealings. |

Bill, have to ask. What do you make of ek constantly linking the Flyers to Luongo. Obvious answer is generating hits for the site, just wanted your take since you consider ek a friend. - ukeman
I think they've kicked tires as due diligence, no more and no less. Ek is connected with people high up in the Flyers' chain as well as many prominent agents and players. He gets a lot of information that sounds off the wall but has actually been thrown out there by one source or another as a possibility. However, that doesn't mean a team is actually going to make a particular move -- especially one that sounds like the odds of it happening are slim to none.

I want them to have success and battle. I don't think they can land the top pick, simply because Florida is that banged up and dead in the water. Now Calgary is selling and probably Phoenix.
If they totally bomb out, I worry about the confidence of the youngsters, who they're counting on moving forward. |

McKenzie says McBain is still in play...doesn't get along w/ Mueller.
LeBrun says Flyers like Yandle, have center PHO would like, but more of a summer deal.
Dreger says blues looking to move Cole or Russel. |

I agree. He's not terrible in his own end. But he's also not a good defensive player. You put him with Nick Grossmann or Braydon Coburn and it's a good solid pairing.
I just can't advocate an overpayment, which it seems Phoenix wants. |

That is one thing I have mentioned before but seems to be forgotten.
Just because we add picks doesnt mean we will use those picks in the draft...
Say we trade (totally unrealistic and hypothetical) Feds and some how get a 2nd.. Gags gets us a 3rd... In the off season when we look to make a deal.. having a couple of seconds and thirds could really go a long way to help sweeten deals. |

LeBrun might as well as have just come out and said that Phoenix wants Couturier.
He would be considered a local boy there, right? |

Yeah just today. It's a prop bet on a website I use. I went with the over. These little rinky dink trades of minor league players count. |

I was just stunned there wasn't some other move they could have made, like sending down Powe or something...I know they needed the $$ freed up so that Giroux could stay up when Briere came back, but it was a pretty bad trade. |

It surely didnt seem to have any lasting affect on guys like Richards, Carter, Lupul, Coburn, or any of the other young guys on that 06 team we dont speak of. I am not worried about confidence as much as I am about bad habits.... but the coach and gm dont seem overly worried about that either. |
