Hav they been producing, yes or no? Do the players I mentioned show a lot of promise and potential by how they players this year? Yers or no? Do the Flyers have a strong base of young talent to build on? Yes, or no? - MJL
No. The record shows that.
Yes. Like every other player in their 20's.
Yes/No. That all depends on what young players they get in the future that produce.
The mindset of let's be patience and let the players grow is gone. Player's prime is no longer late 20's. This isn't the 80's any more. |

Have you been able to watch any games this year or are you just a box score kinda guy?
I've been seeing a lot of inconsistent and lack of production through out the year from especially ALL 3. Best of those mentioned has been Voracek, even with the enormous amount of turnovers in the offensive zone. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of Jake, then again I was told I was stupid because I wanted to trade down in 2007 get an asset and draft Voracek. Go figure. - Glak18
Current scoring pace for all 3 players projected to an 82 game Season
Voracek 32G 49A 81 pts
Simmonds 28G 33A 61 pts
Giroux 26G 56A 82 pts

An hour ago, I would have agreed. There's no way I can see them carrying Bryz at $5.6mm and Mason at $3.2mm - Jsaquella
Agreed. They could also let Mason walk after taking a look at him this year, or offer him 2M or less and nothing more and let him walk if he doesn't take it.
I don't full understand this move ether and we don't have all the information right now to get a good feel.
My heart tells me that Bryz is bad in the locker room and the team doesn't want him anymore. Just my 2 cents. |

Buying out Bryzgalov would be a mistake.

I really hate the goalie swaps with Columbus. Holmgren should be ashamed. I know I'm ruling with the power of hindsight here, but I don't understand this Mason trade at all. |

I dont think the CBA allows that, will have to tender him at qualifying offer. - flyerfan28
i think an arbitrater can be summoned and have a pay decrease for stats as they do with increase |

He's a UFA after this year. Maybe he takes a paycut, like he deserves, based on his play?
It's weird for sure, but I have a hard time seeing Bryz getting bought out. What are the other options now? Mason? At that point, it's back to square one - Giroux_Is_God
He's a RFA, the only way he gets a pay cut is if they re-sign him prior to the Qualifying period. |

If they do that because they think Mason is the answer I will be dumbfounded. - Scoob
A 3rd rounder for a look-see is a bit steep for me.
What kind of audition will Mason be able to get until the end of the year in order to make a sound decision whether to buy out Breeze? We can't carry both salaries through next year - are they planning on rolling the dice and going forward next season with Mason and an inexpensive backup?

It's possible they walk away from Mason, for sure. But on the limited evidence, it sure looks ominous for Bryzgalov jerseys being sold at full price next year |

An NHL team is 23 players. The record shows how good the team is. Not if individual players are producing. There are different levels of potential for players in their 20's. As an example, Tye McGinn doesn't have the potential that Jake Voracek has.
The last comment, makes zero sense. |

I actually feel OK.
Not a huge fan of the likely buyout of Bryzgalov, but it is what it is. - Jsaquella
You know i didn’t want to trade picks or youth. A 3rd for an under achieving goalie making almost 3 million, too much to give up in my opinion.

I think it means they want to buy out Bryz, and use amnesty to get rid of the long deal they should not have made in the first place with him.
Really poor management, because I actually think Bryz is a decent goalie, I like his crazy side, and I believe the Flyers did not have to give him that contract to get him here.
Whatever.
GO Flyers.
I still love them even if this reeks of dumb.

Just popping in for a moment, and I'm sure this is being discussed @ length. Mason doesn not mean Bryz is an automatic buyout.
They don't have to qualify Mason and he can walk. One thing that we all know for sure is that Leighton is not a NHL level goaltender & if for some reason the Flyers can squeak into the PO's and Bryz gets hurt or faulters, you need a viable back up. If not then they can enter off season in same position as they would've had they not traded Leighton, which is a back up goalie w/an expiring contract.
EDIT: I'm not a huge fan of throwing in the 3rd rounder... |

I can't think they just get Mason to have him open the gate over the course of the last 12 or so games. They have to play him, right? |
