I think he wouldn't have waived his NMC for family... he will get bought out in the offseason.. just doesn't fit and we can't afford.. I like Danny a lot too.. - Hextall271
so you don't think he wouldn't have accepted a trade?
I could see him going either way. |

If Homer is able to get Mason to sign at number that makes sense for a back up, he has fixed a big need for the team.
Also he picked up a 4th line center with a winning face off percentage, another need.
He didn't get rid of any first or second round picks, and he kept all his young core (for now).
He still has a ton of work to do to fix the top end of the defense, which is the hardest part, but today was not the right day to do it.
Also I imagine the decision with Lavi is going to be tough.
But all in all today was quietly successful, especially if they have something worked out with Mason on a new deal at a manageable cap hit.
I'm pretty happy, overall. - Marc D
I think the Adam Hall move is being underestimated. If Hall still shows he is a solid 4th line PKer. And he's been a quality faceoff guy for a while now. That is really going to help the Flyers. The Flyers this year, had two veteran forwards who are their main PK forwards. Talbot and Fedetenko. Talbot isn't going anywhere. If Hall shows he can still play. They can sign him for around 700K, Which is a considerable Cap savings from Fedetenko's 1.75M. That wold allow the Flyers to add another player, such as McGinn or Laughton to the roster. Without adding anything to the Cap. And have two players for the price of one on the roster. With the Cap going down, and the Flyers tight to the Cap. These are the kind of moves you have to make. So barring how he plays, I really like the move of adding Hall.

The only really burning question I have is what would have happened today with Briere if he wasn't hurt.
We will never know now. - Marc D
My guess is nothing. I thought the chances of trading him, even if he was healthy, was very low.

Don't know Hall all that well. If he is good, then why has he been on waivers so much of late?
Also, Reese did a great job re making Leighton into a solid tender..Let's hope he can do the same with a younger tender with more talent and pedigree.. I really liek the acquisition if he can be re signed at a reasonable rate. - Hextall271
hall has a 2 dimensional game- faceoffs and the pk. doesn't add much else, although he is physical. strictly 4th line, unlike a guy like rusty who's more versatile. |

Me too, I do wonder why he was waived around so much.
But he could be a good fit here.
When they signed him today I figured Fedetenko was gone today for a 4th rounder. |

Lotta cap and cash tied up in a guy who's been on the news in a bad way. - BulliesPhan87
Must be something I haven't seen. But regardless, he's not a player I would have an interest in.

Likely true although I thought he had some value in return for his play off numbers.
If he was UFA this year he would have brought back something decent.
With the remaining years on his deal, maybe nothing. |

Well I know that's not a recent event. It's still Winter there and Lake Minnetonka is still likely frozen. Unless he was really, really drunk!

This was last offseason, I believe. He also put on a not insignificant amount of weight. If anybody thought the Mike Richards 'out of shape' hype was bad, imagine Big, Big, BIG Buff reporting to camp - BulliesPhan87
His fitness level is definitely a factor. But he's just not a player that I would like to see on the Flyers. Not good enough of a defenseman. |

Bryzgalov could be bought out this summer...I see no harm in making a deal to see if Mason can recapture his form. - Jsaquella
If they do that because they think Mason is the answer I will be dumbfounded. - Scoob
Agreed 1 billion per cent.

The trade is essentially a 4th round pick, due to the fact its in 2015(tpanotch, tsn). Later picks are mostly devalued. By then the flyers should be improved. Also, agree with Jsaqs impression of the trade. |

It's funny, I think someone on these boards brought up Hall a few weeks ago and it was generally thought a decent idea. I happen to agree, I think it helps this team if he can play to his usual standard.

We have far too many Centers. Danny is gone.
No way Read or Laughton get you OEL. You're talking the lotto pick and Coots or Schenn for that to happen. Maybe even more. |

You cannot re-sign a player you buy out for less. OEL is not available, and if he was, it would cost more then that. The cost for Yandle is very high also. And don't know enough about Runblad to know his worth. |

I don't think it is unreasonable speculation that the Mason trade is a preemptive move to buy out Bryzgalov. But I don't think that's going to happen this Summer. But saying that, I'm not dismissing it as a possibility. I think they negotiate a lesser deal with Mason as a backup. And evaluate the situation next off season
