I think one of B Schenn or Couturier will be moved. Carrying the two while there is such a big hole on the blueline is completely superfluous. I also see one of Coburn, Grossmann or Meszaros getting moved. None of them are top line players and they are all paid far too much to be 3rd pairing guys. If Meszaros could stay healthy I'd say move Coburn, but Meszaros cant so he is the odd man out in my eyes.
Depending on who we draft 1st I also see some domino moves following it.
I do think Jones is out of the picture. Unless we somehow win the lotto there are now 3, possibly 4 teams with multiple 1st's. If they want the 1st overall they are much better equipped then we are to pull off that deal. - hereticpride
I can see one of the young forwards getting moved for a top D man.
Meszy could be facing a career ending injury, I don't think he is tradable this summer until he proves he can play again. So you are talking about moving Grossmann or Coburn, on a team that already has big holes on D. I guess they could be traded but they better bring back a replacement defenseman in any deal.
Sounds to me like the Flyers wanted to make sure they had a solid back-up at least. If they can re-sign Mason for $1.5mm or so, Bryzgalov could easily end up staying at least one more year. - Jsaquella
That would make me happy. You got me all wound up with your Bryz is gone stuff earlier.
He's got a save percentage just over .900 and a GAA near 3.00. There's not a lot of teams that will look at that, and what Bobrovsky's done, and jump to give him money, if he was a UFA.
It sure sounds like the Flyers want to get him locked up for a reasonable price and move ahead. - Jsaquella
If the Flyers can get him for cheap that would be great. I'm all for it but I have my doubts that they can sign him for $1-1.5M per year.

That was before I heard the various interviews with Mason and Holmgren. Sure seemed ominous. I'm not discounting that it happens anyhow, but sure sounds like they're trying to get Mason signed to a lower hit
1:30 into the video, Holmgren says that he feels there's a way to work with "Steve and his agent to lower his salary" and follows it up by saying there's already been talks.

Homer looks like he wants to hit some of those reporters.

just watched that video... very reassuring. makes a lot more sense if they can sign him to a reasonable cap hit
EDIT: w/r/t hall.... i wonder if they consider resigning him for next season an option. i think locking someone like that in would be a solid move. seemed like homer was thinking more about only this year, though
It appears Holmgren has already had discussions with Agent for Mason.
Bottom line: Paycut as per holmgren but also may mean new contract. - ParentMcleish
It has to be a new contract. He's an RFA after the Season is over. There is no re-negotiation of contracts in the NHL.
