My DirecTV bill is much lower and I get all the same channels as Comcast minus CSN... Yes, IMO they raise the bill to balance out these bad contracts. - phillydentist

I agree with all of this.
By no means am I stating I have full confidence in Holmgren. The one positive out of this tho is that the Flyers are showing they are willing to cut their losses once they realize they made a mistake. Better to do it now than wait years and years. - phillydentist
My only concern is that they are once again giving in to "hoping for the best" which led them to sign Bryz in the first place. I don't mind keeping Bryz just because you know what you're getting. Buying him out at this point basically admits they have no idea what they're doing with goalies, but maybe that's obvious to most at this point.

He said that Bryz is under contract for next year, then somebody asks about having $9mm in goalies next year and Holmgren explains that he's already spoken to Mason's agent and thinks they'll get a reduction on his deal - Jsaquella
Like the other poster said, do you really expect Holmgren to outright say they will buy out Bryz this summer?
Not saying Bryz is the clear cut #1 here was saying something without saying it. |

They got 3 picks for Bob, right? They have a get out of jail free card for Bryz, right? Odds are in Homers favor! However, if they buy out Bryz and Briere and don't spend to the cap in a rush to the cup, the future is bright. - jstross
The future is bright except in goal. What happens if Mason poops the bed? He's had one good season and then crap since then. Are we really content in hoping it all works out magically as we did in the past?
It just makes getting rid of Bob all the more ridiculous. They got rid of a guy they already had for a good price, who had a nice upside, who is now tearing it up. |

Actually as a stockholder, I can tell you that the CEO makes more per year than the entire roster. |

Nope. I'm just saying that only a moron would rush to a judgement when it comes to predicting what this team will do |

Losing this game would really be a blow, they've outplayed them for most of the game. Getting anything short of 2 points would suck. |

Still think bryz is out if the top 5 worries from this year. The guy deserves to be here next year |

Agreed. Would not be surprised if they felt ok screwing him over, however. It would be insane to put all the chips in the Mason jar this offseason. I could see it happening the next offseason. |

I just know that it's a fool's errand to state unequivocally what this team and, in particular this GM, will do in the future. We've all seen him pull stuff that nobody would have predicted before it happened.
That's why I'm waiting to see what happens with Mason. If he signs a new deal for $1.5mm, I'd expect Bryzgalov to stay. If it's not that low, who knows? If they do buy out BRyzgalov, I'd expect them to sign a more proven guy to split time with Mason. |

Only a moron would say that Comcast's CEO makes more than the entire Flyers roster. He made $23M in 2011.
You don't have to be a stockholder to find out what the CEO makes.

If Mason is at that price, it just makes Bob's leaving more absurd. They really screwed themselves here. If you are hoping a goalie who hasn't played well in a couple years will suddenly turn it around, you are already in a bad place. |
