Almost forgot.... One of the best ways to save money is to send your kids to 2 years of community college, then to a major University. All that matters is where you graduate from.

How about 2 years of CC and then 6 years at a transfer university. 4-year degrees are so last century.

Agreed. And wtf happened to Grossmann? Is it still the mysterious "upper body injury"?
- wolfhounds

Supposedly he was skating the last two days in the "no contact" jersey.

That's a blow. He's been a huge part of their recent winning streak.

It's definitely an expensive endurance competition.

Personally, having done the school thing, I believe technical training is the way to go...at least until our college/university systems undergo a minor revolution. In it's current state, for the amount of money the average student has to pay, and with a bachelors degree becoming more and more common, it's just not really worth it.

Colleges are businesses as opposed to bastions of higher learning, and like so many other institutions in the modern world, they are worshiping the Lord of Profit.

It depends which field they'd like to pursue. I have encouraged them to try different things, not only to gain the experience, but so they're well rounded.

I went the technical route through the Navy, but also took college courses when I had the time and extra money.

I'm a realist though. I tell my kids that they should do something that makes them happy, but it had better pay the bills. Otherwise, make sure you have hobbies

Rosehill move makes total sense now. Can't believe we didn't see it at the time.

seriously. even if he is the next raycroft, it's not like they traded tuuka rask

Exactly my thoughts. its gives the Flyers something to evaluate incase Bryz keeps ducking under pucks going in the net. His qualifying offer is more of my concern so I hope some thing can be worked out to lower his cap hit next season.

I'd recommend never graduating if that was reasonable. A college full of fun and friends is much better than a 9 to 5er... But 8 years sounds pretty good.

"We called ourselves the comeback kids last year and we are kind of back on that same page," Read said. "You play with confidence, and when you're down one or two goals you just fight back and it's another comeback. The comeback kids win again tonight."

If my kids showed an interest or inclination, I'd have them coding, building computers, networks, web pages, etc. and thinking about one or a few of the many IT certifications. If those options were around when I was going through school, I'd definitely have given it some serious consideration.

Either way, good luck to you and the kids...hope they're smarter than I was when figuring out what they want to be when they grow up.

No doubt.

I always loved when spring popped on campus because the girls were very serious about wearing as little as possible...to make sure they got their daily requirement of vitamin d, of course.

You definitely hold a talent in the art of ribbing. One just has to sift through the poppycoccyx.

Ignore the objections of Jsacrum. His jabs can give even a doctor a case of a broken funny bone. I appreciate your compliments and that's no fib-ula.
