If my kids showed an interest or inclination, I'd have them coding, building computers, networks, web pages, etc. and thinking about one or a few of the many IT certifications. If those options were around when I was going through school, I'd definitely have given it some serious consideration.
Either way, good luck to you and the kids...hope they're smarter than I was when figuring out what they want to be when they grow up. - wolfhounds
I'd like them to go that route or healthcare. Two fields that will always have need of hands on personnel.
At the same time, I'm not going to be a drill sergeant. But I wish I had more direction/familial resources in my youth, because I would have loved to ended up as a history teacher. Of course, my wife's friend is an English teacher and she's got several side jobs to help make ends meet |

Ignore the objections of Jsacrum. His jabs can give even a doctor a case of a broken funny bone. I appreciate your compliments and that's no fib-ula. - Flyskippy

Oof. Just watched the TSN post game interview with Simmonds. Seriously gnarly gash on his upper lip. |

Love how after the Flyers talus a win, there's nothing but bare bones in here. Ulna't beat a resounding (ear) drum, but instead patella my feet to a different song and sign my name in incus. |

I could criticize you for going to Seton Hall instead of Princeton |

Yup, healthcare is apparently begging for workers while the nation is hovering around 8% unemployment. And like you said, so long as there's 7 billion plus humans on the planet, there's going to be high demand for healthcare in all its many varieties.
I agree about wanting more direction/resources when I was young. The good news is, one requires no money and is definitely helpful to kids. The lesson I learned the hard way: most kids have no (frank)ing clue what they "want to be" at 17 or 18. That's one of the good reasons for 2 years of CC beyond saving money - they can dabble in various interests and see what grabs them.
Teaching, unfortunately, is a seriously undervalued profession. That can be seen in how often it comes under attack in politics. It's not something I understand, but that can be said of quite a few things. Also, teaching is a profession where you definitely need to have a graduate degree to earn some decent coin. |

I wish CC was a more realistic option for me at the time. I was pretty keen on entering the service, though and actually planned on staying in for twenty.
Then they wanted me to go on submarines.
Teaching is an easy thing to strip money from, and it's a very competitive field. It's also hard work, not 9 months of playing with kids and 3 months of getting a tan. |
