Well, the bandwagoners gave up weeks ago, but now they're coming back while the tankers are giving up after celebrating their ineptitude the last few weeks. It's quite the conundrum. - Flyskippy
Tankers only have 2 options. Tank or get in the playoffs. A good late reg season run doesn't accomplish anything for the future or now. |

A late regular season run doesn't help us on draft picks... True.
What it does do is give our guys some confidence moving into the end of the season which should roll into next season. It helps prove to themselves, the fans, and other teams that they have heart and drive even facing horrible odds. It will also give Homer a slightly better bargaining position for trades. It'll give G some much needed experience with adversity as Captain. I hate to see this team lose, so whether or not we make the play-offs my heart always rises when I know they are winning. I can't wish them ill even for a superstar draft pick... Although I understand the pragmatism behind it. |

Sure it does. Starting to correct bad habits and building a foundation for playing the right way. Absolutely helps the future of this team. |

Anyone who wants the Flyers to tank now are out of their minds. I can't understand why people would want this. That is simply not the Philadelphia Flyers I know, or want to support.
I want to win, damn it!
(Because I have a p.h.D, my opinion counts more than all of you combined.......did I do it right?) |

These are all good points. But, if we were in 27th and close to 30th with a few games left (eliminated from playoffs), you would not find a loss or two to have a little more meaning than a win? |

the 2 Bs will be bought out, Homer will get a couple of D men and he has some good draft picks to work with. I surely feel more positive about the future |

Ask me when we get there...
Until there is absolutely no way for us to get into the playoffs I'll continue to root for them.
Kinda like how I can't help root for whoever is playing Pittsburgh even though it may hurt our play-off chances. Can't tell my heart to stop beatin, ya know? |

Tankers are a misunderstood breed of fan. We don't want to just lose. If we have a chance for a run in the playoffs anything can happen.
This team has been competitive forever. But that doesn't win a cup. All I can do is expect something similar to what I've always seen next year. A very good team, with lots of promise and a great chance to win.
If we're CLOSE to 30th with a few games to go, I want 30th. I don't want to win the last two just to win. They are meaningless wins. You can have a good effort and lose for other reasons, but I would not mind having the best odds at our choice of a promising young prospect that could be a franchise player that WE actually develop.
I'm not saying to tank now. I'm saying if all hope is lost, and were very close.. yes I hope we get that first pick. Would be awesome. |
