Unless he has his eyes closed (which wouldn't surprise me)...a deflected puck right at the top of circle with no bodies in front should be a routine save for a pro goaltender. - broadstreet11
top not analysis here, Millbury. Good work. |

Agreed 100% about his needing to Provide proof, but refer to my original statement about the type of team he's played for these past 3 years...He has the raw tools and the skillset that in my humble opinion, Bryz lacks...Now lets see if can step up and develop them... - HigginzMask
See I don't know there...
Mason looks awkward at times in net and doesn't have the greatest flexibility. They're also both taller goalies too, and typically don't have the motion that a small goalie does. Either way, I agree about the proof. |

Part of the problem on the goal turnover was that he had no support from the rest of the team.. There wasn't an easy outlet for him. So he tried to get fancy and after making it past the first guy he was just out of control enough to let the second step up and take it. So yeah... Not good, but just as I don't blame Bryz for every goal, this one wasn't all Luke's fault either. - FlyersGrace
given the situation with the habs having just scored, it was an ill-advised risk. if he plays w/in himself and keeps it simple, he's an asset. |

I'm looking forward to seeing what Mason can do. One team's junk is another team's Bob.. I mean Mason. |

looks to me like he saw the low slapper coming and dropped down. The puck deflected up but he was already committed and couldn't get up fast enough. It does look like hes ducking but I don't think it was as bad a goal as everyone is saying. - pinto
Bryz hate is strong today.
I thought we won? I guess we needed to win by MOAR.
Besides, hammarby31 -- who actually is a goaltender -- broke this down in the last blob thread. |

bob's playing well for that team and while they're better, mason's pretty much the same. we'll see. 3rd rnd picks make an impact <10% of the time, so the cost wasn't exorbitant. |

I haven't commented about this, but I will now. Who cares about it being a deflection.. hes a goalie. You don't duck from pucks. And yes, I used to play goalie.. what's that have to do with anything? Goalies don't duck away from pucks.
Its not the first time he's done that this season.. this one happened to go in. - mikel33
I'll take hammarby's breakdown of the play, thank you:
i've seen this many times. done it myself. and it only happens in a situation like that - redirected right toward the head...natural reaction to put your hands up and duck your head a bit...a) protecting your face (even though you're wearing a mask etc), and b) you think it's probably going over the net and you don't want to leave a weird rebound. it all happens in a split second. i think he just misjudged the trajectory of the deflection, because it did not appear to dip on the way toward the net. it looked bad, and unfortunately was bad. no problem with his game other than that. - hammarby31 |

Thank you for being honest about his g-tending...I ve never seen so many apologists for an inconsistent above average netminder. This play exemplifies 3 of the attributes of a top notch goalie he simply lacks. |

So I haven't been following Toronto. Any thoughts on JVR these days?
And I'm predicting that Rosehill drops the gloves. He has to prove he belongs (just like Sestito did in Van).
I'm actually looking forward to Hall taking some of those defensive face-offs off G.
I thought Fedetenko had a quietly nice game last night outside the face-off dot...
And it was really obvious to me that Coots was hanging back in the high slot playing a lot more D last night. Everyone was but I guess I just noticed it from him the most. |

thoughts on torn rotator cuff? - Don'tForgetTocchet
It all depends... There are two types of tears... partial or complete. So if its just a partial tear it should be a pretty cut and dry recovery.. and he would be looking close to 100% at the start of next season.. Looking at about 3-4 months recovery.. If its a complete thickness tear it could be longer... 6-8 months.
With Meszy the bigger concern I have is that he likely has some sort of bony abnormality. He has had 2+ shoulder dislocations that we know of this season. If he has a RCT as well as a bony Bankart or a Hills-Sachs lesion... it is more complicated because there is bone structure damage that could contribute to recurring dislocations, which would need to be repaired.

Wow that was detailed. So in your opinion (without examining the patient) how long till he's back in the line-up? 6 - 8 months?
And is that including physical therapy to regain muscle? Or just the overall heal time before serious physical therapy? |

Turning into Pitt circa 2006.
Also... Flyers fans used to be different from Philly sports fans. That is starting to go away unfortunately... |

Id say if everything goes as planned.. 4-6 months until he is back at 100%. This is just a general assumption that it is an average RCT with no other more chronic issues. |

HAHAHA, you mean Philly has other teams besides the Flyers? Huh, who knew... Meh - thought they all sucked. Wait I still think they all suck,
Except of course the Flyers and maybe the Wings (if I'm drunk). |

Are you serious?
Classic.
Constant memory of Bob - wonder if that's for motivation to surpass him or because they liked each other... I serious doubt a coincidence. |
