You're not factoring in what you have to give up to get him, then he has to be better than bryzgalov and if he doesnt pan out yes it's lateral at best. He's not gonna a whole lot cheaper either

That's my issue. Is that whoever we sign as a lateral move will cost almost as much as Bryz, and anyone we trade for will cost us assets that will weaken this team. Even if you feel our Goaltending may be overpriced, it's still not the problem area of this team. Fixing what ain't broke is going to cost us picks and players and create more holes in our lineup. The time to do it smart was to show some patience with Bob. We diddn't do that, so now we are stuck with the pricetag. Mason isn't a bad move with a cheaper contract. If he can regain his form, he could take over and be a future starter. and until then, we do need a backup. But Bryz will be our goalie for a while and his front loaded deal should let us be able to unload him later in his career to teams trying to make the cap floor.

Our Goaltending is what it is, and it's not really a problem. I'm more concerened with a puck moving replacement for Pronger /Kimmo.
