I know you've been talking him up lately, especially yesterday...

So far in round 2 against Gatineau they have yet to score a goal in 2 games against him with plenty of spectacular saves.

did you see the Phils game tonight? Shows it's never over, until it's over. Flyers have no shot at top 3 unless they hit the lotery so hoping they lose is a waste.

Probably not be a popular opinion, but I'm looking at 2014 and beyond. Buyout Briere and Bryz. Bryz hasn't been awful, but it's not a cup team this year or next. Do not use the Cap space unless a player that helps in 2014 and beyond. The team will be close in a few years when the cap space can be put to good use.

I don't believe they have shot to win it, not on Bettmans watch
- KINGKENZO

Tin foil hats notwithstanding, there's no way to fix it without someone someday telling the truth. And no one ever has on any of the so-called fixes of the past. Just because the team you want to win a random draw doesn't, or a team you hate does, doesn't mean it's fixed. There are too many people who would have to know. And we know from every stupid scandal out there that if someone knows, eventually we all do.

This makes sense. I think they give him another year. But it is looking more and more inevitable unless he goes off next year

Bad decision to start Bryz today.

And an even worse one not to make the switch after #3. They had no TO left and needed to stem the tide. A change there would have been the right call.

I don't see Bryz as the problem and I just don't see were they can spend the money. However, I'd free up the space now and go with Mason and another FA(some knowledgable posters keep saying a lot of good ones available this year)?

Patience and cap space is not a bad thing.

I still don't think that this group is that far off, call it orange colored glasses or Kool aid or whatever. There's talent here. I don't think it was properly used all the time or focused enough, but I don't see this team as being that far off.

I do think, whether it's this summer or next, that Bryz and Briere are the CBO's.

Even then I wouldn't be upset, plenty of talent.

Once you get past 8-10 there is pretty big dropoff.....When people say this is a deep draft they mean first 5 guys or so can contribute right away...After that no different than any other prospects.

It's a shame I would love to get an extended look at Mason now. But extended look might be hard with 10 games left.

If they drop another game in the next couple, then there's zero reason not to play him a lot. They're at the point now where they have one or two losses left to give.

The top 5 or 6 guys are considered as likely to be able to step in right away, but it's got some good value guys into the top 30 or 35, even. If they're picking in the top ten they'll be getting a very good prospect.

just let mason play so you can decide if he's mentally ready to play in the NHL regularly again so we can buyout bryz and use that money somewhere else

I was annoyed they didn't give him the start tonight to give Bryz the 4 day rest. I was impressed by his ability to handle the puck.

They're going to re-sign Mason anyhow. There will be plenty of opportunity for him to play. It'd be nice if they can get him back on track, because his rookie year, he was a beast.

He moves well for a bigger guy, too. His trouble has been in making adjustments. He'll get scrambly and get beat or just allow a weak goal because he's making himself small. It'd be great to see Reese have success with him, because the natural ability is there.

The big concerns are confidence, communication and work ethic. The confidence is obvious, the communication I've mentioned earlier(page 3 or so) and the work ethic is something that's been whispered about.

But if Reese can get this kid back to form, he could b a helluva pick up

If he did, I missed it. But the team and his agent said they expected a new deal within the week.

10-4 as of now no deal reached but like you said expected soon in the 2.5 mil range....I just cant see this franchise spending 7.5mil on goalies maybe, just maybe they go one more year with Bryz but I honestly just dont see him as a game changer and thats what they are paying him to be.

It's hard to disagree with that view. I like the guy, and I think he's a talented goalie, but being an interesting guy and a couple of bucks will get you a coffee at Dunkin' Donuts
