If Timonen can't go, Foster is in. That would elevate Gervais up to the # 2 dman. - PLindbergh31
Perhaps we could borrow Buff for D. He's a spare D anyway. |

I re-listening to the interviews Mason gave after the trade, it really strikes me just how bad the flow of communication was between him and the Jackets coaches.
For instance, for a couple of years he wore equipment that was too small for him because he was under the impression that it was the largest size he was allowed to wear under NHL rules. He was getting beat up with it, and either the team told him that it was illegal to wear bigger gear or misunderstood his issues with the equipment.
The minimal cost makes him a worthwhile risk. - Jsaquella

Didn't feel like wading through the river of bullpoop. 4 game winning streak and we get moaning and crying. Some days this thread looks like the comments section of Philly.com |

Fair enough.
The Rags only got one point last night, that's good. Hopefully the Devils continue to drop like a lead balloon.
Today is a big game, the Flyers need to win in regulation.

That's going to pretty much be the case the rest of the way
But the Pens didn't do us much of a favor last night. |

We need a Tor win and a Car win tonight.
2 weeks ago I didn't think a run like this was possible. Not winning 3 in a row all season, so to think a 4+ game win streak was possible wasn't logical thinking.
I like to tell myself that the change in the teams play, lately, has a lot to do with Couturier finding his confidence, his game. I know its is sooo much deeper then that but Sean finding his game can only help the team.
I really like the kid.

I wouldn't have an issue with it.. I could see it going either way.. especially because Bryz sucks and won't be able to win it all himself. Maybe Mason can? LOL
Seriously, need the 2 pts though from a desperate Winnipeg team so I wouldn't be surprised to see Bryz. - Hextall271
actually, i think i would. this is crunch time in a playoff race against a team they need to jump in the standings. bryz is our guy, so it's him or bust the rest of the way imo
unless, of course, bryz isn't physically up to snuff for a particular game for whatever reason |

We need to win this afternoon. Everything else will take care of itself.
Coots does look like a different player than he did a few weeks ago. Funny how that confidence thing works.

Based on the way they were playing prior to the Boston game, there was zero reason to expect a 4 game win streak, or even a two game win "streak". Hell they had trouble winning two periods in a row, let alone games.
Again, like when assessing blame, everyone involved should get credit.
Laviolette made tweaks that have been embraced and been effective. The players are executing better. The GM added pieces that played very solidly against Washington and Toronto. Hopefully having the deadline off their shoulders will help Couturier and Brayden Schenn.
Personally, I'd have been happy if they showed some fight and went down with a good effort. They've injected themselves into the middle of the race and deserve to be there. |

Lava's got to give him a break soon. And we have to see what we've got in Mason. |

he'll sleep when he's dead
but in all seriousness, i think mason can help with this issue next season (or if the flyers fall out of the race/ clinch a spot ..... neither of which seems likely for a while). for the rest of this year it's all on bryz though
EDIT: and if he does decide to give him a break, it can't be against a team like winnipeg, or new jersey, or either ny team, or carolina, or tampa |

I was saying that same thing, if they lose then they lose but lose giving 100% every shift.
My only request was to play the kids.
I didn't want them to tank because learning to win is more important then any draft pick, Besides watching the Flyers win is a heck of a lot more fun!

They'll only get two days off between games two more times until the end of the year, and one more back to backer (@ Mon, home against the Rags). If we squeeze into the PO's, Breeze may be a nub by then. |

you're absolutely right. but the hole they dug themselves (imo, at least) necessitates running that risk. bryz being a nub by the time the playoffs come around is a secondary concern to doing everything to make it, is what i mean |

I'd never want to see a tank job.
(However, I wouldn't have minded if the Phils rolled over for one game in the last series against the Braves a couple of seasons ago). |

Sign both Mike Smith and buyout Bryz. Sign fa A. Khudobin to be the goalie of the future. Mason has too many issues and will most likely continue the slide. |
