This team proves that #1 picks mean nothing if you always have a loser mentality...and Ryan Smythe.

Considering he played for the Kings.

I'm going to go back and read the article - though I'll likely regret it. What the hell kind of stupid question is that (re: the title)? Have you played any sport ever? What were you thinking when you typed those words? This isn't fantasy land, despite the amount of NHL 2013 you play. It's a business and a career for management and players respectively. Only a fan with his head up his own rear end could fathom intentionally losing.

GO BLACK SOX!!

Dear Oilers Fans,

I'm sorry. I know it isn't my fault, but all the same, you have my deepest sympathy. I can only hope that you manage good conversations among yourselves in the message threads, because if not, I see no reason of coming to this site. Your blogger is an amateur and you deserve better. Too bad Yost is a Sens fan.

Cloutier in no way shape or form speaks for the Oilers or the fans.

He's 100% on an island with this nonsense.

Ever considered the #firecloutier campaign? It worked for Jake Gardiner.

Cloutier, I defended you in your last idiot blog, but not this one. Not even in the name of free speech and opinion can I defend you. Resign from your post and start blogging for the NFL or something, cause you've hit rock bottom. Off to Lowetide I go. At least he has some dignity left.

I'm glad the oilers are playing meaningful games. Great for morale which leads to productivity just like any other organization, hockey or not.

This offseason is when tambi needs to put a stamp. Playoffs are a must next year. They are a bonus this year IMO. Oilers are honestly where I predicted them to be this year.

If we want to get a top 10 pick then we trade up, not lose. Package our first and a second and move up. Easier said than done but never intentionally lose.

If we pick 12th I'm hoping for gauthier or mantha. Lazar , Pulock or ristolainen are also other considerations.

Good to hear. The Oilers have one of the brightest futures in sport - including a legit chance to make the dance this year (which I'm certain would put the scare into many Hawk fans). Plenty of good stuff to talk about.

The games against VAN and LA illustrated a couple things. #1 the team appeared to lack energy. #2 the Oilers need to add more size

plain and simple.

Good read Clouts

Yup, still scratching my head at the lack of interest management showed at the deadline. This can only mean they are going to be the busiest organization at the draft as they position themselves for next season.

- cdjaakkola

Maybe the lack of interest was in the players the Oilers were offering up?

Leave it to the Oilers blogger to write about intentionally tanking. Typical. These last 10-12 games will be the closest thing this group of Oilers have had as a group. They need to learn to battle. Make they make it, maybe they don't but it is a great great lesson. If the management traded some of their good players the young guys would have been wondering why their management doesn't support their efforts and try to help. Only you Cloutier, would suggest a tank job.

why would this team intentionally lose
the fans are sick of #1 draft picks and AHL superstars coming into the NHL to have a bright future. Edmonton has enough young talent and don't need any more high draft picks...

They need to win. They need to win for the fans, for themselves, for the staff..for everyone...aren't they sick of losing? If they play-off hope is still alive no matter they have to win every single game or only 1 to make it in they should play hard and the fans completely agree with this. The oil are dangerous when theyre on top of their game..

That being said theres no reason to lose on purpose for another draft pick, you guys had enough draft picks and its just time to start winning...and you will.. because you have a solid team...add a solid d-men back there in the summer and start over next year...don't lose on purpose.. maybe getting so close to that 8th spot will give the fire the fuel it needs to burst into flames..finishing so close to a playoff spot but not getting in might just turn this group around and make them more hugry than ever next season..

and like i said..the playoff dream is still there...so work for it, cause it may happen this season too
