Bishop has stopped 82 of the first 85 shots he has seen with TB. Yzerman saw he made a mistake with Lindback, and went out and found a solution to the problem. - PLindbergh31
So 82 saves on 85 shots equals a solution? |

Yep. Mason hasn't allowed a goal yet at all, so obviously he's even better than Bishop |

It's the lockdown defense Florida employs. Has to be. |

Well kudos to Paul Holmgren then. He saw he made a mistake with Bryzgalov. And he found a solution!

With the NHL package I watch a lot of hockey. There is no team in the NHL that gives up as many glorious chances as the Flyers do on a game by game basis. It aint even close.

Bryzgalov isn't a mistake. 40th in the NHL in save %, he's a rock star. |

Well if Bryzgalov isn't a mistake. What was your point in bringing up Yzerman trading for Bishop? |

Until I see a metric or statistic that verifies this I don't believe it. |

Good trade for both teams. Conacher is a nice player. Hard to believe a team can trade their third goalie for that kind of a return. |

Been preaching this for a while.
Nobody seems to listen.
Bernie's sv % would be right around .905 on this team. It seems like 2/3rds of the GA this team has allowed have been a) point blank shots from a prime scoring area of the ice, b) odd man situations down low or c) scrambles in front where the other team's WIDE OPEN MAN cleans up the garbage.
It's unreal.
Until they tighten it the (frank) up, I don't think it matters who their goalie is. |

It really wouldn't make a ton of difference, unless they had a guy like Cujo who actually was at his best when called upon to face high quality chances. |

Bishop is a starter in this league. He's far from your typical third goalie. |

So if the Flyers are going to have this type of reckless style, why would they go out and spend a fortune on a goaltender? |

So what makes Yzerman so great then? He got a team's 3rd Goalie and had to give up a good young player to get him. That's on top of what he gave up previously to get Lindback.

Definitely not. Ottawa had depth at the position, and used it to their advantage. |

I'm told that Wellwood is undergoing surgery to repair/check veins and other vascular damage.
Tomorrow, Wellwood will have another surgery to repair the tendon damage. |

Easy.
As a solution to the problem.
Why else would they?
They're biggest hole at the time was goaltending. So Homer went out and logically tried to plug it with the best available option.
Now the biggest problem on this team is their lack of team D. Not the goalie. Now, they need to tighten the (frank) up. |

They shouldn't. But then I doubt the way this team plays defensively, was the vision that Holmgren had for his team. That falls on the shoulders of the Coach. Who overall, has done a pretty crappy job this year. So two choices. Fix the defensive issue, or why stay with the contract that could hurt down the road. If keeping the contract does not produce the required team results.

He was so good with Anderson out neither Bishop or Lehner could get a strong hold on the position. |

Team defense has not been great but I also won't let Bryzgalov off the hook either. He hasnt been very good since the beginning of the season. |

He's played 38 NHL games. It's amazing he's never won a Vezina |
