Not yet but with the good young forwards and D prospects with size and skill the Isles will be in the near future. |

Yeah I think we will be fine in a few years but right now no way. Boston I feel is better than Pittsburgh and is the team to beat. I am not sold on Montreal to be honest, If this was a full season Boston would have taken them over by now. I mean we can say the same about the Islanders though. If this was a full season do the Islanders even sniff the playoffs?? |

Pittsburgh blew that home and home with the Rangers... you promised 4 points for the Pens...
It's their fault the Rangers are still around... hopefully Toronto can get the job done this week.

Anyone see the Islanders Point Blank article about the Isles potentially heading to Brooklyn a year earlier than initially planned?

Good News... I think everybody expected them to leave early!!!

That's exactly what it is at this point. The only time I have looked at her posts in the last 6 months has been due to a comment in the forum!
At this point we'd be better off with a guest blogger. We could just take turns writing a blog. Hell, some of our comments are longer (and better) than her blogs anyway... - keaner17

Mtl over Pittsburgh any day of the week - Cptmjl
On paper you would obviously say that but how do you explain the Habs only being a couple of points back. Don't take the Habs too likely... Price can outwork many goalies in this league.
Either way, good luck. |

Did Larry brooks (when referring to the isles making the playoffs) just write "our islanders"??? That's too funny!
Also did anyone catch the blog about PK Subban being a finalist for the Norris? I said it before the season, the isles shoulda tried to pluck him from Montreal. Anyone here not think a Norris trophy candidate (only a few years in the league) not worth 5 or 6 million? - kindlyrick
It was in yesterday's NY Post...here is the excerpt:
Among the biggest winners of the trade deadline, if not the biggest winner of them all, stand our Islanders, who acted like an honest-to-goodness, real-life hockey organization by holding onto prospective free agent rental prey such as Mark Streit, Evgeni Nabokov and Brad Boyes in order to pursue the playoff spot that seemed a pipe dream at the start but is now very much within sight.
The decision to toll Nabokov’s contract, whether made by general manager Garth Snow or owner Charles Wang, and whether borne out of spite or by prescience when the netminder refused to report when claimed off waivers on that European re-entry try by Detroit in 2011, proved a signal one in the club’s growth.
For the reluctant Islander has provided the team with its greatest stability in net since Rick DiPietro was operating on a one-year contract (and not being operated on), which would have been in 2005-06 for those not born at the time. |

Believe me nobody is taking the Habs lightly. I think its just a better matchup for the Isles. Isles have played them really tough this year |

If they go to Barclays Center a year earlier, they will make enough extra money to still pay the NVMC lease for that year and of course pay off the politicians. |

Is the last part even a freaking serious question? And you can't believe about the Islanders? Start believing. They're not much of a surprise, they've been gradually getting better and better for a long time now- it's only your fault for not paying attention until now. - isles10289
Easy...
No time to get cocky there, Homer. Islanders finished 14th in the conference two years in a row and 13th the year before that.... Oh and 15th the year before that.
So yes, leap from 14th to 8th is a surprise especially when you have teams like the Rangers, Flyers and Devils to battle with... lucky they are having crappy seasons.
JT and Moulson have been very consistent and picking up Boyes has really paid off. Good luck! |

Yah, Habs are not very tough. They try to be though..
I'll be honest, I can't believe where they are right now. |

Montreal has earned everything they've gotten this season. I don't take anything away from them. But, if for no other reason than how well the Isles have played against them this year, I'd much rather face Montreal than a reasonably healthy Pitt. Pitt, Philly and Boston are just three teams that, more often than not, have their way with the Isles.
All that said, I don't really much care who the Isles face...I just want to get there. Don't want to get ahead of ourselves with three very tough games coming up (two against the earlier-mentioned problem teams Philly and Boston and one against the Rangers...always a toss-up) and everything being way too close to call at this point. |

Agreed. There is still plenty of hockey left to play. Just because we are in the top 8 now doesnt mean we are a lock to stay there. Its not like there are 2-3 games left this season, still plenty of puck to play with incredibly tight standings. If we lose 2 in a row we can be looking up at the top 8 instead of being part of it. These next few games have me very concerned, MUST take care of Philly because Boston is going to steamroll us. |
