Actually, the Sox didn't have anything to do with it. Honda is the PA guy for the Final Four (has been doing it for a few years now) so he is in Atlanta. If he was at Comiskey he would have had plenty of time to get over to the UC. - PhatJoeSki
And thank you! You'd think I would know that, considering my position within the marketing department and all... |

Concur on Harvey whenever they've had him come back it helps you get the feel of the old stadium..."Blackhaawwk Goal - in that monotone that only Harvey can bring.
Anybody else catch Pat Boyle in the pregame saying this was the last game between the Hawks and Preds this season...and then the Brandon Saad comparison with Ladd during which Pat mentioned Ladd is the captain of his team in Edmonton...yikes. - DK002
Loved Harvey and loved when they'd bring him back to fill in. I guess I figured he wasn't available for that anymore. Certainly does bring back the feel of the old barn when you hear 'ol Harvey announcing a goal or penalty! |

Hi John...
I typically love all of your columns...some of the time you are a good writer with great insight...some of the time you are a great writer with good insight...I'm sure you will understand that. Just recently I voiced my opinion regarding how strongly I felt Saad should be considered for ROY. My vision of Saad and what type of player he could become is a little different than yours...I am actually surprised considering my opening to this comment that you did not think of the most obvious comparison...that being mine. Brandon Saad is a young Jon Toews. I realize those are mighty big words or skates to fill but he has the chance to do it. He has the wheels, his hands and strength will only get better, he plays with 2 of the best examples of complete hockey players and quite simply he never, ever gives up on the puck. What we have in Saad is another piece to the "core"...a piece we would be wise to lock up for many years. Keep up the good/great great/good work...a pleasure reading your stuff. - Chisoxhawk
This is a well thought out post, and I understand your thought process, so don't take this as a personal attack rather than a critique of your opinion. You are CRAZY to think Brandon Saad is anywhere in the vicinity of Jonathan Toews as a hockey player. In his 20YO season, Jonathan Toews scored 69 pts in 82 games as the #1 center on a struggling team, playing with line mates nowhere close to the skill Saad has around him. Toews is one of the best defensive centermen on earth, Saad leaves tons to be desired in his own zone. Saad will never be a captain of an NHL team, Toews was named one at 20. I don't disagree he can and will be an important piece for the future of this franchise, but he is not, nor will he ever be Jonathan Toews. Also, post more often, its always good to have people who can articulate their reasoning |

Emery, I think Q is going to give him a chance to take the reigns. Crawford has looked shaky recently |

I see where you're going with this now...
It could be either one. It all depends on who's hot or not at any given time. |

http://www.csnchicago.com...out-bolland-sharp-returns
as many here had speculated..Bolland is out vs the Wild and Sharp is in..well he did make the trip....
Some else may have a the same or similar line combos:
Saad/Toews/Kane
Sharp/Krugs/Hossa
Stals/Shaw/Bickel
Frolik/Zus/Carcillo
I could live with Zus or Frolik moving up as needed.
when Bolland comes back he has to go back to the 3rd line..which suggests Shaw moves down to the 4th in place of Carcillo. |

Everything is good up this way. Caught an Icehogs game with Ogie and UnnamedSource yesterday.
As for St. Pierre, I doubt that happens. He's in Rockford on an AHL deal. The Hawks would have to tender him a two-way contract for that to happen. |

I'd be surprised if Stan didn't pick up a 2nd, 3rd, both, or both+ before the draft. At least one player, or a player's negotiating rights will be traded before the draft.
At least one of StaHlberg, Bickell, Bolland, Sharp, or Frolik will likely be gone. - Ogilthorpe2
What do you think they could bring? Stahl`s not singed yet and negotaions not going any where I hear Sharpie has some sort of NO TRADE FRO is a little expensive for a non finisher Bolland is not playing well It would clear cap room for off season but not alot to pick from for replacing Sharp with the same skill set Stahl could bring maybe a 2nd if he signs Bolland now maybe that 2/3 but the team would have to be wanting him more than one year Fro maybe 3/4? |
