No doubt. His speed will almost certainly be slowed a bit. Or a lot. - wolfhounds

That might be on Mason, not the coach. What do I know? We will just have to wait and see with Mason on the Flyers. - PhillySteen
Exactly. I was more clowning the fact that CBJ's goalie coach is "teh awesomest" for "fixing" Bob by pointing out that the Calder winning goaltender under his tutelage was just traded out of that franchise for pennies on the dollar.

BSchenn is more valuable than Read. Younger and with a higher ceiling and he makes losing Briere this summer more palatable. - phillydentist
Schenn is young, but what is his ceiling do you think? Like a Richards type player? |

He will prob never be as good defensively. But can prob bring his offensive side. I seem him as a more physical Matt Stajan |

Wait a second, he's stopping the puck at an .896 clip, and you want him to be a good teammate to boot? Unrealistic expectations.

Ok Philly guys need some opinions here!
St. Louis has never been a big spending team. I cant remember the last time, if ever they've been near the top of the spending list.
They've got to re-sign a boatload of RFA's this summer. And with J-Bow's acquisition, i think Shats can be had for the right price
What do you think could get St. Louis to trade Shatts here, WITHOUT trading Couts?
I doubt it would be enough, but i'd offer Read, Cousins, McGinn, 2014 1st for Shatts. Flyers seem extremely high of Laughton, and Cousins is really a mid tiered prospect, and can play wing. Laughton is a straight center, and St. Louis has an over capacity of those, hence Read and Cousins, who can both play wing. - FLYERSROCK!

He'll never be more than a third line center.

It must be all that desk time. He should've taken the accelerated recovery program for his Achilles, a la Erik Karlsson. |

This is what I amworried about.. He's young and there is time, but if he doesn't become anyhting better than a 3rd line centre, Iwould def send him out in theright deal. |

I don't want to offend anyone with my opinion that Bryz isn't the issue here and that he should not be bought out. I do tend to be too positive though hahah |

I don't know but there is no way I'm giving up on a 21 y/o playing top 6 F for us now over a 26 y/o.

You're the only yes man on this site. Do you have a check list of the following talking points?
Should I treat any criticism I disagree with as another poster laying all the blame-or credit-on one guy? Yes I should. Then I'll post a picture of a lousy 1990's band and act like I don't do the same bullpoop I rip others for.
It'd be funny if it wasn't so predictable and tiresome. |

There's blame on both sides for Mason's fall from grace. I have heard examples of the communication gap between Mason & his coaches as well as rumors that he didn't work as hard as he could have at their suggestions.
Reese feels he can work with Mason. Hopefully he can. If not its a minimal investment. |

My issue is from the asset management side of things.
Why give up a future 3rd round pick just to sign the guy to a $1.5 million deal? He would have been a free agent this summer (no way he would've been tendered by CBJ) and they could have signed this deal in July.
And still had the 3rd round pick. |

And if we made the play-offs? Bryz would have be a teeny tiny nub in net. So small you never could have seen him...
I don't mind this transaction even if we don't make play-offs. And let's get our hands on him now so Reese has all summer to work with him. |

Exactly.. win win all around.. I think he'll bevery good here.. just like any other working relationship, if he connects well with Reese, this could work out really well. I remember hearing about the issues with Allaire in Toronto before he was fired by the Leafs.. that was a mess, but no one ever talks about the Leafs goaltending issues.. only the Flyers have those.. |

The thing is, it's a 2015 3rd rounder.. I expect that the team feels we'll be back in the playoffs and contending by then.. so you are looking at the late round. Also, Leighton was not a serviceable option as backup. |

Now, now that's a bit harsh. Leighton is a serviceable back-up option for a doorman. "Welcome to the Wells Fargo center - here's the back of the net. Please enjoy your stay."
Everyone has a talent!
