God these players are d bags. Put the damn Kevlar socks on morons. Be comfortable at home with your millions of dollars in contracts. Put the damn visor on too. " its a risk I'm taking". Never understand nhlpa allowing their players to be so dumb. It's an obvious safety benefit and they will get used to them just like the visors. Sorry for the rant but how pissed would you be if g was lost like karllson because of that. - SMS4016
One wonders if the organizations could put it in contracts that the player is responsible for the insurance if they opt out of visors/socks, skate guards, etc etc.
Maybe that would change their minds if they get "socked" with the financial burden?

Good news: Briere skating at in regular jersey. Bad news: He's on 4th D pairing. #Flyers - MBFlyerfan
I wonder if he will ever play a game as a Flyer again... |

Yes, he's pretty much a lock unless he has an awful camp and preseason. - bmeltzer
This isn't a knock on Laughton ( I really like his potential) but do we really have to bring up every 18 - 20 year old prospect nowadays? Is Laughton really going to produce sooo much to flyers that sacrifices leaving him in minors to grow with minutes he can't get here like kadri had to do or like grigorinko in buffalo? |

I hope not. They need him healthy going into the offseason so they can buy him out. He should sit the rest of the way. |

GooD point.. Probaly against CBa. Although they do have weird stuff like no skiing and whatnot where contract can be voided. |

Actually, Grigorenko is a solid example of what not to do. Burned a year of his contract, scratched him, and sent him down after the damage was done.
EDIT: Also, as was stated, Laughton can't go to the minors due to his age. |

Heard Mason just signed a 1 yr 1.5 million dollar deal. Not bad for a back up now! |

I think it's kinda impossible for the flyers to make the playoffs they pretty much have to go 10-0 to have a shot |

That's" tank" talk. Put him in and see if he can help. Guy has always been clutch for us, give him a chance. If we make it to the POs everyone will be begging to see him play. |

sigh.
We need to go 7-3 to make it, and win BOTH games vs the Isles. I did the math several times
with our sched its very possible to go 7-3 but we need to win both games vs the Isles, and they cant even get a point. Needs to be 2 regulation W's |

Agreed 100% y point is if Laughton makes team he's slotted as what? 4th line center? Pk player? That 6 to 8 minutes a night. I'd rather keep him down to work on other areas of his game. I have no doubt he could make team and contribute a little but in the long run think he needs more work. Coots a example. |

The thing with Laughton is that he will never be much more than a 3rd line agitator/defensive specialist in the NHL who chips in a timely goal or hit on occasion. Just my opinion of course, but that is how I see him.
As for Coots, I think sending back to juniors last year would not have done anything for his development. He is kind of a "backwards" player. By that I mean, usually its a young players' defensive game that needs work/seasoning. And that is why they don't succeed early in the NHL. Coots came here already pretty solid on the right side of the puck. His offensive game will come in time. Playing him in juniors against other kids who have no hope of stopping him would give him some false confidence maybe.
I like where he is. He had a half season in the AHL, and has been coming on as of late. Its growing pains from a 20 year old kid. His offensive game will come. Look at Joe Thornton his first few years. Shanahan, Neely, Stall.
As long as he stays defensively responsible, the other stuff will come. I have no doubt. Sending him down will be counter productive.

I agree, but with that lower cap hit for the backup I think it is a better chance of Bryz staying.
Edit: I agree with Timmy P (oddly) it is either Briere or Bryz being bought out this summer. I think it will be Briere since our forward depth is our strength. |

Juniors, yes. AHL, no. So the question is, will more time in the juniors help him, or will he be better served getting his feet wet with the pros? |

I read somewhere but can't find the link that Mason will be RFA again next offseason. I hope Bill M can confirm this. |
