He doesn't really have that rep, though, even with the latest incident. Downie (and Zac Rinaldo's) main jobs even before the NHL were to stir things up. Laughton has a hard-nosed rep but is thought of more as a shutdown center than someone who goes looking to cause trouble. - bmeltzer
Sounds like a Steve Ott in the making which is a great piece to a young core |

Well, this is frustrating...Dump Bob because the front office thought he was being paid too much as a backup. In comes Mason for a little more money and IMO, Mason isn't as good as Bob. - Shephardbd
Actually Bobrovsky is earning $1.75M this year (more than the $1.5M for Mason next year) and Bob is due for a big raise this offseason with all the Vezina talk. |

Ok Philly guys need some opinions here!
St. Louis has never been a big spending team. I cant remember the last time, if ever they've been near the top of the spending list.
They've got to re-sign a boatload of RFA's this summer. And with J-Bow's acquisition, i think Shats can be had for the right price
What do you think could get St. Louis to trade Shatts here, WITHOUT trading Couts?
I doubt it would be enough, but i'd offer Read, Cousins, McGinn, 2014 1st for Shatts. Flyers seem extremely high of Laughton, and Cousins is really a mid tiered prospect, and can play wing. Laughton is a straight center, and St. Louis has an over capacity of those, hence Read and Cousins, who can both play wing. - FLYERSROCK!
Maybe swap out Cousins for Gus as they would want a young D back in return and make that two 2nd rd picks instead of one 1st rd pick and I'd love that deal.

We cant say who is better than who until their careers are finished....bob hasnt come close to mason calder winning season...on the other hand neither has mason... |

Does mason now make more than what Bob did? I never liked the trade of Bob, but I have no issue with getting Mason.. Boush and Leighton weren't cutting it and this kid is 24..I also like the fact that we are starting to value young d prospects.. Stolarz, Mason etc.. draft one this year in round 2 or 3.. it's what nashville did for years and they found Rinne.. - Hextall271
Mason is getting $1.5M and Bob gets $1.7M, but Bob has a $850K bonus, which doesn't reflect as a cap hit this year, right?
Bob: http://www.capgeek.com/player/1730
I do agree with you that the organization is valuing young goalies. Idk, I was a huge Bob fan so it's a bummer for me. Plus, I miss this http://youtu.be/ksb7UlwCIKQ |

CBJ could be back in the same position next year with a young goalie with a big contract without any experience of being the starter goalie. Can he handle the pressure?
I did read that Bob got help from CBJs goalie-coach to correct his weakness to leave too much room up high. One can wonder why this didn't happen in Philly? 2 years here: no huge change; less than a season in CBJ: looking much better. |

It's all part of the plan for next year:
1. Murray coaches the Flyers
2. Riley Cote coaches the Phantoms
3. Brian Boucher retires and coaches the goalies.
Plan the parade now boys and girls, we're all set!! |

One point I would make though, is CBJ's goalie coach a genius? Mason has crumbled from his Calder season and apprently, the coach wasn't on the ball enough to know that Mason could wear larger gear than he did. The article was posted earlier that he was getting hurt etc for two years? Someone was asleep at the wheel there.. holy crap. I am sorry, I don't think Reese is the issue, and I don't think CBJ's guy is that much better.. |

Or perhaps Bob's grasp of English is better an thus less of a handicap now? Nah, must be something the Flyers did because we fans know it all. |

Bob understood English OK a year ago. What I found interesting being around the locker room was that Bryzgalov and Bobrovsky used to completely ignore one another but Jagr frequently went over and talked (in Russian) with Bobrovsky. I didn't read too much into it -- you don't know what goes on the rest of the time. However, as it turned out from what has subsequently been said, the Bryzgalov-Bobrovsky relationship really was a pretty distant one.

Boosh is studying up on his Russian in preparation for his new role as coach next year. Hear he even ordered Russian dressing on his chef's salad last week... |

This season has been frustrating for sure, but dear God.. we will most likely miss the playoffs for only the 2nd time since 1995. 2 Finals, 6 EC finals appearances, several div championships, second in all time reg season winning %, one of the teams that has played the most playoff games since the lockout.. I want a cup desperately as well, but sometimes the talk on here is like we are not a successful franchise. We're not the Leafs for God sakes. |

According to reports, Wellwood fell into the boards awkwardly on the penalty kill and caught the back of his right leg with his left skate. There was immediately a trail of blood on the ice, with Wellwood gliding to the bench with the assistance of a trainer while the puck was still in play.
In addition to vascular damage, Wellwood severed a tendon in his leg, which reportedly could be seen clearly. He may have also cut an artery in his calf.
"I don't think anyone really saw it," coach Terry Murray told the Glens Falls (N.Y.) Post-Star. "It was away from the play. Everyone figures that it was an accident that happened to himself. The play was already in the offensive zone and this happened in the neutral zone, so we're not sure exactly what took place."

Exactly.
Also: It's only been 29 games and everyone has anointed Bob an elite goalie.
Unbelievable.
I'm happy for Bob as a Flyers fan, but let's not get worked up over what the Flyers did or did not do. |

Schenn plus a first and Gus? Id rather just trade couts straight up that package is too much. Jbo has trade value no way he gets bought out. It looks like hes come on and settled things down on the blue line nicely for them. If that continues I don't see them trading him and I think they could have trouble re upping shattenkirk. But they could just trade Jackman and his salary to open up room |

Bryz sounds like an A-hole all the way around. I can see he was really popular in PHX too from what they said after he was gone. Won't be surprised to hear the same sentiments from the Flyers once he's bought out. |

BSchenn is more valuable than Read. Younger and with a higher ceiling and he makes losing Briere this summer more palatable. |

Wait a second, he's stopping the puck at an .896 clip, and you want him to be a good teammate to boot? Unrealistic expectations.
Don't criticize Bryzy-Poo, you will enrage the mob of yes men. |
