B. Schenn was terrible tonight. Actually most of the team was bad. Now I remember why I stopped watching them.

Understandable. Bryz was also terrible tonight.

I'd prefer a top 10 draft pick as opposed to a first round spanking in the playoffs. So that's my silver lining.

first game on a new team in a "must win" ...he probably had some nerves. i thought he looked calm for the most part. made some big saves. handles the puck with confidence. he's big. i like what i see.
- hammarby31

I saw a lot to like. Rebound control was a bit of an issue, in terms of overall play. Puck handling is definitely a plus. Seemed to move well for a big body

He played fine. Seeing a goaltender stop a breakaway was refreshing.
- PLindbergh31

Agreed.

Was also happy to see JJ change "Left handed larceny" to "Right handed robbery" in honor of Mason.

I dont know if Mason is going to be the answer but theres no reason to not find out more about him in net for the rest of the season.

1.5 million for a kid who won the Calder is a wise investment. Low risk/high reward.

A couple of times when Bryz opened the gate, it wasn't wide enough.

Turrible.

It was his first year as the captain. I think Giroux has been pretty good, all things considered. He didn't really have a healthy Scott Hartnell on the first line all year. Simmonds was good for awhile there, then he got hurt.

There are a lot of problems on this team, but I'm not sure Giroux is one of them. Holmgren needs to get him some help in the form of secondary scoring or Brayden Schenn needs to grow the hell up.

- johndewar

Giroux isn't a worry going forward. And B Schenn is 21.

Giroux shouldn't be captain he wasn't ready for it and still isn't kimo should have the C
give Giroux an A let him learn from someone who has been a captain

Agreed he played well.from a goaltending technical standpoint his play was very good but this is only 4 periods He needs more work on the some technical aspects but I see the intangible part of his game as more in need of improvement.
- ParentMcleish

The one thing I noticed was his foot work. I couldn't imagine whether to attribute that to lack of playing time, or maybe just some technical tweaks.

Welp, certainly should start Mason the rest of the way. I like his ability within the trapezoid, looks like he can help this team clear the defensive zone.

As far as the Viagara line, I'd only be interested in resigning one of the vets. Ideally, my 4th line would be Talbot and Hall with one of the three old guys on there next year.

Pitts not resigning Kunitz right? He could be a fit on the top line
- Just5

If he's playing without Crosby, he would have to remove the i from his last name.

this hopefully is a learning experience for G and it propels him forward. he's a terrific player. i really was hoping to see him grab the bull by the horns and just continue to take the next step forward.

I guess they think they're resigning Iggy?

Kunitz was a pretty good player before he got to Pittsburgh.

Agreed on Giroux.

If you're going to give Brayden Schenn top-6 minutes, he should have to earn it.

He wasn't lousy, he just didn't take over games like he did last season. It's a step back. I have little doubt that he'll use this year as motivation in the future.

of course, the Flyers will probably win a few games down the stretch ... just so they can get our hopes up again before twisting the knife into us and finally being mathematically eliminated.

One of his worst games. That's been a huge problem with this team. Very little threat from that second line all season. Briere finally completed his genesis into a certain female anatomy part. First line can't do it all all the time

mason seems to have some of the same issues as bob had last yr. he goes down a little too soon, makes himself a little too small and has trouble controlling pucks at his feet. don't get me wrong, he didn't play poorly. just trying to identify some factors that account for his spiral. these are all correctible flaws it would seem.

btw, i bet this was posted before, but if it wasn't, it supports a lot of posters thoughts here:

Hartnell has had a really poor year.
