Good stuff!

I had to look up who was on those Isles teams.

That team had some pretty good names who had could score at that time: Alexei Yashin, Marius Czerkawski, Mark Parrish. I had forgotten that Mike Peca even played on Long Island.

That was Laviolette's first year as a coach, if I remember correctly.

i'd keep all 3

I don't think Huskins stays. But for the right price/length, Gagne and Feds could stick.

Alternately, Fedotenko could win the "Arron Asham Award" for playing for the most teams that play in the Atlantic Division by signing with New Jersey in the off season.

Seriously, though, I killed Rusty early on because he really looked his age, but his play has definitely improved steadily since earlier in the year.

I'm sure he does suck compared to Nick Lidstrom, Nick Kronwall, etc.

I don't know if you can compare aging forwards with defensemen.

The market for defensemen of Timonen's caliber is still pretty robust, despite his age. Kimmo would have gotten that $$ on the open market easily.

Kimmo had them over the barrel.

Seriously, I don't want to think about their D without Kimmo.
Scary.

Kindl, despite that own goal recently, looks promising.

Gags will definitely take a pay cut. His production and playing time (because of health and production) are both way down from his prime. Something like $2 million per for 2 years would seem reasonable to me. Maybe something similar for Feds. And then we keep them together as a solid shut-down 3rd line with some offensive skill and special teams abilities.
