Right, that's a best case. Gags is making $3.5 right now; I wouldn't give him more than $2.5 per.
Feds is making $1.75 right now. I'd try to keep him there, or maybe a little bump to keep him from taking another offer. - wolfhounds
I feel like we could sign Gags for $2 mil per, 2.5 sounds reasonable. I like Feds but I don't know if it's reasonable to resign him, depending on the cap and who we end up keeping. I would like to resign Huskins. I think he has been a steady presence on the backend. |

Well, he played 11 in Detroit and some of us have seen him play elsewhere. It's not like he's totally unknown aside from those 4 games.
At least he's under 35.
No skin off my nose if he isn't re-signed. Hopefully, Mesz and Coburn come back 100%. - Flyskippy
That's the part that scares me. |

it's generally a smart move to give a guy a contract based on 4 games of play. #huskins - bradleyc4
True but when has that stopped us? Heck we are ready to pin our playoff hopes on a guy who has made 9 stops in net over a single period... never let it be said that Philly doesn't like to gamble. |

Lauridsen and Gusty could really use more time in the AHL.
Mez is huge question mark if he'll be healthy.
Grossmann, Kimmo, Coburn, and Luke Schenn should likely be back.
Grossmann's staying healthy doesn't seemed guaranteed.
Kimmo at 39 could miss games next year from injuries, although he really is an ironman.
I think Homer needs to bring in 2 more viable NHL defenseman this summer.

Those D-Pairings are like being at a bar at closing time and realizing you could either go home alone or pound that last round to get you beyond the edge of sensibility and go home with one of those girls you wouldn't have looked at when you walked into the bar sober. The flyers don't have the option of going home alone so they have pounded that last round and taken home the stragglers. |

I think you have to count Meszaros in for next year. He'll have a whole summer to heal.
If you have Meszaros, Coburn, Schenn, Timonen and Grossmann, plus Gustafsson, Lauridsen, Bourdon (hopefully), Manning and Gervais; and then potentially look for an upgrade....Huskins is way down on the depth chart.
I'd only go get a guy like that when needed. |

All kinds of possibilities and variables this off-season, including FAs and draft picks. Let's hope Homer doesn't disappoint. |

Steve Mason will be in goal tonight for the Flyers at Nassau Coliseum.
THANK YOU LORD BABY JESUS!
Mason deserves it. (frank) Bryz - FLYERSROCK!

The narrative last season (and into the off-season) was that he was better when he played more games.
Now, after giving him the bulk of the workload, he's too tired.
I'm confused and can't keep up with the Bryz apologists. |

Personally, I would not re-sign Fedetenko. And I most definitely wouldn't give him a raise. And it's not that I don't like Fedetnenko. But he's too expensive. You can get Hall for less then half of that. Plus Hall is good on faceoffs. With the Cap going down, that's how the Flyers have to make cuts to the payroll. |

When are gonna realize the fact that Bryz isn't the true problem, and that the truth is the problem is the system? The system used by Laviolette is evaluating true talent on his team has been documented as a fact, and the system rings true. I'm right. Why should Bryz's ability to stop a puck or being dead tired have any true effect on Lavi's system of goalie selection? You're wrong. |

I don't think it has to do with the amount of games that he has played. I think it has to do with the how the team has played for the most part. In the overwhelming majority of games, he has had to stand on his head to give the team a chance to win. Game after game, playing in that situation can wear on you. I think it is more of a mental fatigue then a physical one. |

Yup, that's fair.
I need to see more of Hall to form a better opinion of him. A solid faceoff guy would be nice, but I think Feds is the superior PKer...Hall just seems slow to me. But again, I haven't seen enough of him to form an educated opinion of his pros and cons. |

Wait... Are there Bryz apologists? 'Cause the number's dwindling, IMO.
You and I agreed about not signing Bryz prior to the 2011-12 season, preferring the Flyers stick with Bob and a veteran backup.
That said, I root for Bryz because he's a Flyer. I'll stick up for him to a point, but it's clear he was tired in the 'Peg the other night.
EDIT: Last season was a "normal" season. This year's compressed schedule is more taxing, I would think, but every team has to deal with it. Other teams have dealt with it better. |

you totally read my mind. How many #6/7 dmen are they going to collect? granted they can always send him to the Phantoms but I'd sooner see them use their contracts wisely. |

There sure are. I guess they're a loud minority.
I'll still root for him as long as he's wearing the orange and black, but I have zero confidence in him. Whether he's to blame, or it's the system that has hung him out to dry; it's just not working. I would cut bait this summer. |

I hope you are right, he is a great guy to have to pitch in some offense and skating from the back end. A bit expensive for his role in the #5 spot, but that is not really the issue. Its his shoulder health.
I am really worried about his shoulder.
2nd surgery for dislocation is a big deal.
