What's your point?
The role Schenn plays on this team is different than the role Giroux played on that team.
You can't even debate that. - johndewar
One can argue that Schenn has had to face better competition as a 2nd line player. remember the Flyers had Carter and Richards and Briere ahead of G in the pecking order |

People can complain about his decline all they want. Statistically, he is 5th among all d-men in points this season, and on a overwhelmingly MINUS team, he somehow is a +1.
He is doing all this while playing with multiple injuries to boot. - jak521
This would have been a historically bad year if Kimmo Timonen was not on this team. |

Knuble's quote on Bryz allegedly falling asleep was great:
"You've hardly even sat down. I don't think your ass made your spot on the bench warm enough. That's silly. That's asinine." - johndewar
It's amazing these players have to answer such questions. |

I was kinda making that very point, actually. Someone had tried to compare G's year when he turned 21 with BSchenn's by quoting their ice time back to me and that's why I responded that way.
Essentially, I was making the point that BSchenn probably had a bigger role and way more expectations placed on him than he was ready to deliver on this year. |

The only thing saving them is there's not another 43 games to play. |

and his point totals are still respectable. I just don't understand why fans lump players in the "bust" category so quickly. its ridiculous. |

If there was another 43 games to play Bricker and Settlemyre would be the third defense pairing. |

I didn't call him a bust.
That's come up a few times in this thread and I'd love to know who did actually say it. He's too young to be called a bust, but he's not experienced enough for the role he's been asked to play this year. |

I believe the 'Schenn is a bust' thing started back on page 3:
Philly.com in full on Braden Schenn is a bust mode. It must be horrible to be only 21 and know your career is already over. - MBFlyerfan |

Puck handling skills are night and day different. Have yet to see Mason try a poke check but his ability to capture a puck behind the net and clear or pass on his own is light years ahead of Bryz.
That said he wasn't a miracle maker. So when our D got exposed it usually went into our net. With the exception of Mason stopping more than one breakway...
Mason could use some work on rebound control. Of course your D sliding into the puck and through the crease to put it into net doesn't help your numbers much
Of course we've only had 4 periods of play to evaluate Mason but he's not the second coming. He does some things better some things worse. - FlyersGrace
Mason should have stuck out is left pad to stop the slide of Gustafsson. Should had that one! |

Neither can I, I think he's referring to the comments. Anyways, to offer a counter-point, maybe Schenn isn't and/or wasn't ready for the role he was given this season. But if it's going to be a losing season, I think it's a good thing that he's getting that experience. |

And he's been a better offensive player than Giroux was at the same age, which is promising.
This is not to insinuate that Schenn is going to put up 90 pts a season, just that he's young and has had a relatively good year offensively. |

I will chock it up to youth BUT the play by Schenn and Simmonds irked me because it just reaks of beer league play when a person is stuck in the D zone and when the puck finally leaves the zone they stay out cause they want time in the O zone. NO! you change and wait til next time. - nastyflyergirl
no question, right after the time out, get the f-in line change
Lavi was furious
he would have slapped Leino upside his head if he was still on the bench |
