I think we have a higher chance of trading Briere than winning the lottery. That make you feel better? - FlyersGrace
Nope. I don't see much chance of moving him, now that the TDL is passed. He's the kind of guy that teams would want to rent, not carry all year |

Homer will have the 7th pick in the draft and trade it for a 30 something Dman and a 2nd - vejim
A very real possibility sadly. Although I'm gonna vote won't happen. Homer does like his first round picks and he doesn't like to trade young talent. That said it depends on the 30 something Dman.
Could I have been more wishy washy? I can try harder. |

I think a team who needs to get to the floor would want him too. Although he'd never waive his NMC to go to a team like that.... So moot point I guess. |

Hartnell has got to go, Simmonds can bring what Hartnell brought the last few years and he quite frankly cant keep up to anyone now. Foot injury aside he is on his can more than he is on his skates, borderline embarrassing. |

Yep. I'm sure a team like the Isles would love Briere. Won't go there, though |

I like Simmonds I really do. My fiancee wears his jersey for every game. And holy smokes he keeps on ticking when everyone else crumples... He can fight and his heart is in the right place. I don't want him on my top line. Of course I don't want Hartnell there either. Simmonds is a 2nd or 3rd line guy... He brings a lot of great things, but finishing isn't one of them. And G needs that. Which means Homer needs to find that piece. |

It's a lot more fun to joke about Holmgren decimating a roster with dumb trades. Even though he miraculously turned that nightmare 2006-07 roster into a perennial postseason team, starting the very next season. |

Yes. And the only times he's traded a first rounder for a 30ish defenseman, it was for Pronger and Timonen.

You got to put a lot of mustard on those, because otherwise the might rise, instead of drop |

I think Simmer has pretty good hands, especially around the net, similar to Hartnell who has shown to be effective as a first liner in that kind of role. Simmonds has a respectable 14.3% shooting percentage, both this year and last. While not the ideal top liner, he can fill that Hartnell type role there if need be...that notwithstanding, I think he's more of a middle sixer, like Schenn. Schenn has moderately higher offensive potential imo. They both just need some more experience and development, especially on the defensive side, but that's not uncommon in young developing players. Keep in mind, as guys like Laughton, Cousins, McGinn and possibly this year's (lottery) pick enter the picture, guys like Schenn, Simmer and Coots will be moving up the depth chart...one or more of them will have Voracek like breakouts eventually...just have to be patient for now with the kids. |

IMO I say:
- lose Hartnell, sure he's put up 37 goals in the past and 20 goals consistant but defensively he has been brutal he constantly takes dumb penalties, I'm sure we can find a guy who can put up points beside Giroux and be able to work hard without the stupid penalties.
- Get rid of Gervais! Please! I don't care how.....they can murder him for all I care (just kidding). I blame Talbot and Homer for Gervais. Talbot got Homer to pull the trigger and obviously he did. We need a top pairing D man. I have no doubt Schenn will be one in a couple of years but Timonen can't handle it anymore. Timonen, Coburn, Grossman, are 2nd pairs at best and thats if you ignore the struggling by Coburn. Timonen's body can't handle top pair anymore so I consider him 2nd pair material Rest are 3rd pair.
Up front players just need to mature. I have been fine with both Bryz and Mason. Mason plays as back up and learns from Bryz good and the bad and he becomes our future goalie. This team is a top defenceman and maybe a capable defenceman or 2 away from a playoff team.

You talking about L. Schenn or B. Schenn? - PLindbergh31
I'm talking b Schenn, but like Schenn looks a lot better than the Toronto fan base made him out to be. He looks like a young defenseman with plenty of upside left. |

I'm being serious.
Timonen is the aging vet who won't be here in a year, Giroux's the captain of his team--not only are the Flyers pitiful this year, the media has now decided to find every little gossip story to get Bryz on the first train out of here.
I don't care if the team (frank)ing loves the guy or hates his guts, Giroux needs to be the one to go out there and say, "Bryz is our goalie, we have faith in him, and we're going to win with him. If you don't like it, too bad."
Come on, fellas. Get your (frank)ing poop together. - KGBflyers10
Giroux does need to step it up. He's had a sub par season this year by his standards |

My issues with Giroux havent been as much with his offensive production, but more directly his trend of trying to force the play with his talent. Its a lazy way to play, and even though he isn't the most physical guy he cannot be playing so fancy.
You might get away with that on the PP, as his numbers would indicate but 5 on 5, you will have a guy like Voracek who plays the game differently being more effective.
My main issue with Giroux has been his approach to the defensive side of the puck. Too many plays gliding back or half-ass attempts. |

i like Schenn a lot. my only issue with him is the time it takes him to make a decision with the puck on his stick. he holds onto the puck way too long in both ends of the ice. i don't know if he's not anticipating his move before he gets the puck, is unsure what to do with it anyway, or a combo. But he needs to improve on this. |

~80p in a 82 game season, and without Jagr, and on a non-playoff team. About were I'd guess he'd be before the start of the season (except the non-playoff part ofc). He gets a B from me. |
