K, I'm sure it was more intense being there. But in the first period was your heart in your shoes? I thought they played a fairly good first period, and then they crumbled. Maybe I'm naive but I think those flashes of brilliance can be sustained. Just not this season.
And get used to NYI fans trolling, they are getting better and better... - FlyersGrace
First period was excellent....After the gus goal i just shook my head....i thought mason played well, looked solid, but needs improvement in rebound control...they seemed to stop playing after the islanders scored. Offensive zone entry was atrocious and sustained attack was atrocious... |

disgraceful doesnt cut it....i was there, having a whole two section of people give you the middle finger as i walked out after the third goal was bad....my buddy a devils fan who was with me said he never saw such abuse....you know its bad when islander fans are trolling - Philly1980
They are from Long Island, which is still in New York.
I'm pretty sure the last place I ever look for civility is New York.
When New York fans behave like you describe, it's called "passion".
When Philly fans do it, we're somehow animals.
It all depends on the lazy narrative of the day. |

The problem with mason starting is the beat writers didn't have any material for the next day. Hard to blame a goalie that isn't playing. And so the Bryz falling asleep nonsense begins. I knew the find away.
The flyers lost at practice today because Bryz fell asleep. Wonderful. - funmaster18
Im pretty 50/50 on Bryzgalov. Tried to stay that way throughout the year, and wouldnt be too upset if they gave him one more real season.
At the same time, its really turned into a distraction, and to a degree because of a lot of what has happened and been said he has helped make his own bed. More so last year, but that stuff carried over. That contract will haunt him forever because he needs to be more than average, he needs to be elite. As much as he could play better though, management has failed him big time as well. No back-up goaltender, and havign to play behind that poop show crew.
I wouldn't be against a fresh start, but they would need to either go after Hiller or Backstrom for example to not throw everything on Mason. If you can get a similar production, with less distractions I am starting to lean a little more toward moving away from the whole Bryzgalov experiment. |

What's really the distraction? Bryz? Or the media? |

I hope so, I certainly hope so.
He's a better back up than what we had. I can say that definitively. Will he wrestle into the top spot next season? Who knows? - FlyersGrace
I think he actually has a higher talent ceiling then bryz...Hes quick and has a flashy glove. If he gets confident and learns to control rebounds watch out. |

Media.
I said during the whole Richards thing that the Flyers should honestly limit access to the team by these guys. Its like they are hoping to find batboy in Briere's basement or something.
I doubt that will happen, but Philadelphia is not the only city like this.
If the Flyers management is unwilling and probably not able to limit access why throw the C on Giroux so soon when you know media is just waiting to jump all over it? Why not silence Bryzgalov much sooner last season when it was clear the media was feeding off of it and creating havoc?
I'd much rather prefer the media guys just go rot in a hole, but its the nature of the game, and not just in Philly. |

It's a shame they all can't be like bill.
Next Carchidi or frank open their mouths or pick up a pen, they should ask themselves, WWBMD? |

I didn't call him a bust.
That's come up a few times in this thread and I'd love to know who did actually say it. He's too young to be called a bust, but he's not experienced enough for the role he's been asked to play this year. - johndewar

Right. This really in one article isn't much. However why the hell does he even have to open his mouth? Or just not stick to the classic answers. To throw out that that this is "dark water", and "I dont care".
In the grand scheme of things this is how he makes his own bed, and it definately creates distractions. Its like Torts in NY making himself bigger than the team.
I would understand he is frustrated, and that management has failed him as well, but its not good sportsmanship. He kept it calm and cool for most of the year, and is starting to come apart again.
Edit: I would say he is not the problem, but there are many issues with this team and his play and other BS are a part of it. Agaim, I'd be cool with giving him another season. |

That may be, but I'm not sure saying you don't care if youre a flyer next year is going to help anything. |

Its not a issue to pretty normal fans.
Yet you know it will just create more BS from the media, more distractions and more questions his team-mates will now have to answer.
Bryzgalov should know this by now... Thats where my problem comes in, and this isn't the first time his actions have needed to be explained by his team. if he was playing at an all star level consistently he has room to talk. |

Haha lots of problems for sure but I hope they just fix this right for one (frank)ing time. It might take a few years but just build the thing right. This organization is becoming a laughing stock, and rightfully so. |
