Just have to say, in all my years of watching hockey, I don't think I ever saw a better played defensive game fulled by the Blackhawks just always having the puck.
The way they closed getting the puck going backward and forwards while stopping the chances the wild had, well, I can't remember a game where a team snuffed out the other so convincingly with puck possession since the 1957-60's Canadiens who seemed to always have the biscuit too.

my new and extended 210 player NHL Draft mock is up:

John Jaeckel: Playoff Form?

Thought Duncs looked relaxed back there last night as well. Zeus appeared to be a step slow all night but Sharpie played with some fire. Hope he gets it going as he will be needed in the playoffs. Also liked seeing Sharp take a majority of draws when his line was out there...

I hope Bolland gets healthy and the lines looks something like this:
20-19-81
10-16-88
29-36-25
13-26-67

Q has done a good job switching things up this year while not overdoing it with the random line generator from years past. Kudos to him!

Are you guys concerned about the Canucks?

We have been each others biggest rivals over the last few years. Is everyone comfortable or looking over the shoulders to see if we are coming up. We are starting to fix some holes and our goaltending has been coming to form.

I think our two teams are more equal than people will give credit to.

I can see that too. As long as the Hawks win, I guess I don't care who they sit.

As long as AV is coach, and there's no strong on ice team leader, there is no reason to fear the mental midgets from BC.

I agree. Vancouver isn't as deep as they were a couple years ago and are still a team full of mental midgets, divers and overall losers lead by a cheeseball GM and coach. That team has some good talent, but doesn't have the big league moxie it will take. Anaheim and St.Louis are the two teams that worry me the most.

You can add the Kings to that short list too.

Only team that concerns me is the Hawks. They decide to commit to a team D game they can go as far as they want.

Big win last night. Impressive against a tight checking Wild team. I was very happy to see the Hawks attacking in the 3rd and not sitting back in a conservative, passive 1-2-2. Great sign.

Emery made big stops when he had to, and the difference between Emery and Crawford is that Emery doesn't let in those questionable goals that take the wind out of the team's sails. This job is his to lose over the next 9 games.

Sharp looked fantastic for a guy missing over 14 games. He even won a few draws, and I dont' see any reason why he's not the #2 center heading into the real season. I'd honestly throw Carcillo up there with him and Kane, to create room. Carcillo has a done a fairly decent job at picking his spots this year and is very good at drawing penalties.

The last 6 slots.....is a great problem to have. Handzus, Bickell, and stalberg seem to have some magic and I'm not sure it would be wise to plug Bolland in there. The whole point of a shut down line is to control the play, and if Handzus is winning draws and allowing Stalberg to chip the puck in deep and attack with his speed...well....why mess with that?

The 4th line is Bolland, Frolik and some combination of Kruger/Mayers/Shaw/Bolig.Somebody can sub for Carcillo if he's not playing a controlled physical game, but this is going to be a good problem for Q to have.

I'd be open to throwing Frolk up with Sharp and kane...and putting Carcillo on a line with Bolland and Shaw....Or kruger....Depending upon who is producing....

Good comment about Kane: a couple of times he tried to go one-on-Minnesota when he had passes available.

I'd agree with Shaw, but Frolik is a great penalty killer and very good on the forecheck.

It's going to be interesting to see what Q does....However, SHarp has to stay at 2c...that has to happen.

Every time I see him I chuckle and think "Stan Milkita the early years-lite version.

This guy can get criticized for his ability-level, size, and whatever weaknesss bloggers can find fault in.
No one can take away his level of commitment, his tenacity, his mouth, and his head for the game.
It's guys like this that take everything I blab on about that the top 75 of this year's prospects and basically render the words null...because it is his basic love & joy to be out there that pour out his veins and you cannot miss feeling it.
