Bickell will make about $1.35 million per. Write it down.
- John Jaeckel

Got it.

If the Hawks can keep him for that, that's not bad at all.

True, but in all fairness to Bickell he is underpaid at this point. If we don't give him $1.25 - $1.50 somebody else will and I said before I think he's worth it. It's rare, but sometime players do get insane pay raises, look at Jason Garrison he went from $675K to $4.6 million. I'm not trying to justify if, just point out this can happen.

You make a good point about Bicks being underpaid. I like the fact he's homegrown...we drafted him...developed him...stuck by him...and he stuck by us.

Nice piece with wicked pics of a Hawks' fan that climbed Mount Everest. Well worth a read/view.

There's a lot to be said about team culture and you tend to develop that from players you've brought through the system (vs trading).

In the business world (i.e. Dark Side Industries) corporate culture is huge and when an entire department or team buys into a certain attitude you are far more successful. It's easier to continue this culture when the new additions see the veterans do exactly what they are asking the rookies to do.

We did not. I grew up in Lockport and moved to the area in October. I am a half block from Augusta and Noble.
Near the Polish Roman Catholic union offices.

I like the area. Pretty laid back, not too many hipsters or loud nutzo college kids, some solid bars easy L access. Between Augusta and Division over to at least Damen it looks like they are making a big rehab / reconstruction push which is a good sign.

Yeah, by St. Boniface and Eckhart park...I went to Holy Indians grade school (oops, Holy Innocents)

My mother learned to swim in Eckhart Parks pool when it was orignal (not domed) when someone threw here in and said<,"It is like climbing a ladder..."

I had my bike stolen in that park by 5 kids of various colors who lived in the east Cabrini Green building which where then newer mixed poor residences....I was with a friend, and some weeks later he saw two of the kids and my father and I and Bob Noga (now a chemist in Sonoma Valley and still a hockey boy...) chased one of them to the middle of the Kennedy just South of Chicago Ave...we were all in the middle lanes (now called reversable express lanes) until I grab him...we all were so close to getti g hut over and over.
Anyway my bad ass father had him "take us to where the bike was to get t back..." and that was the project building he lived in.
I saw my friend Bob a summer ago, and I pretty much put this incident in the past, far too many other nasty ones taking up space...and he brought it up, and said," I will never forget how you father drove right up in the midsts of all these tough guys, and we went up got the now total stripped pice a crap of a bike...and when we got back and were walking out with they started talking yang, and your father was so mad that he threathened the pile and all the froggy ones bck far away as we left...to the rocks they attempted to pelt the care from. Your father was really scary!"

The outdoor "restaurant" was where the Red LIne separates from the Brown line and goes underground, just south of Armitage.

The woman was new to the U.S (ukie & polish)and thought she was gonna be Madonna,
it turned out she was the first Madone -ah...

In one large pan shot you can see me for a second....

I'm settling down with a 6-pack of Sam Adams Cherry Wheat right after dinner and helping all the kids with their math & science homework.
