Easy...who played with Kane and Hossa last year before blowing out his knee? That would be Mr. Carcillo.
Carcillo used to be a top 6 guy in this league, and fairly decent back with Phoenix.
Comparing a pile of crap like Olesz to Carcillo is pathetic. Move along.... - SteveRain
Maybe with the Wheeling Nailers he was but never in the NHL for any sustained length of time. He is a player with a role and if he can perform it well if his head is screwed on straight. |

My point is and has been...you are who you are. Playing Carcillo and Bollig more will not make this team better. Trying to suddenly become more physical will do more harm than good in the play offs. Go with your strengths and see where the chips fall.....just get better on the power play.
......and no Olesz will not improve this teams chances come play off time.....just want to throw that in there. - UnnamedSource
This!!
If only we had traded for Ott all would be right with the world. |

Fixed and +1
I would like Carcillo in the lineup but not at the expense of some you mentioned (Frolik and Kruger play regardless). Shaw maybe if he has consistency issues could see DC spelling him. Likely he's a depth guy (press box) in the playoffs unless Bolland is too banged up to come back.

Then why does everyone think he'll be too expensive for the Hawks to re-sign? Other teams see the same player. - StLBravesFan
Stalberg has size and speed, can't teach either.
On many many teams he would be given a shot as a top six...That is a different price point, so to speak.

If the Hawks are who they are, well Bollig and Carcillo have been on this team all year. Both have played plenty. They must see a reason for these two to be on this team. We will see when the playoffs come around who lines up. I think Q uses them in certain series, but not others. If we play Detroit, not much of a reason to play them. We play some of the bigger teams, I think you will see at least one of them out there. - droe411
Was thinking a similar scenario. In mine Carcillo gets the nod over Bollig, but if Bolland's back who would you sit?

So "given a shot as a top six" is worth (say) $3MM per?
Too many GMs willing to give too much money to too many players who haven't done it yet, but might.
NHLPA should never give in to these guys. |

After 39 games played...
Bollig has dressed for 20 games and plays about 7 minutes a game
Carcillo has been in 28 games and plays 9 minutes a game
FYI...
Kruger has played in all 39 games with 15 min of ice time per. |

Are you guys concerned about the Canucks?
We have been each others biggest rivals over the last few years. Is everyone comfortable or looking over the shoulders to see if we are coming up. We are starting to fix some holes and our goaltending has been coming to form.
I think our two teams are more equal than people will give credit to. - VANTEL
Always concerned about the Canucks.
Their dirty back hitting and stick work - there is always a chance they take a player out on the way to losing.
Particularly Kesler - when that team is really losing a game in the PO he turns into the dirtiest player on the ice. And that says a lot when he plays with Burrows, Bieksa et al... |

Yep....nothing like keeping the puck in the offensive zone all night......that means nothing. - UnnamedSource
Well said. Considering they had 1 goal I am happy to hear about someone possessing the puck the whole game.
Though Stalberg looked strong last night. Wish his agent would wake up an make a long term deal at a reasonable price. |

Still would consider that playing plenty. I don't get paid to decide who sits. I can though see an instance were one of the two of them can play. If that were the case, I prefer Carcillo in that role. Kruger should go no where near the bench. Shaw, Fro, I don't know. Q has some tough choices.

Yeah. Neither 52 or 13 has played a lot and more to the point, neither has made a difference or been a factor in games.
The most you can say for either is that they haven't been massive liabilities in their limited time on ice.
Not exactly a ringing endorsement when constructing a playoff lineup. |

well, don't go printing that, Al.
I want every team in the league to value his terrific upside and come calling with draft pick to be the first to get hs rights to sign him and start him on his way to be big time player we know he is (sic).
That speed IS a reason to have him on the ice.
and there are teams that want to fix their issues. - wiz1901
So Wiz, what do they get (in draft picks) for the right to negotiate with a UFA?
I really doubt it is better than a 5th.

so many people are frightend that the hawks dee is gonna get hit....haven't they been hit their entire careers????
That is no reason to think the hawks play their number six guy in a more prominent role, especially when he again displayed some very questionable passes, decisions and there is no way one big sized defender cahnges any teams plan against the hawks.
Now if you wanna say well brookbank will provide some push abck on the other teams attackers, that I will agree on, but no more. - wiz1901
They still need an answer to physical forechecks. As JJ pointed out - last night they again struggled against a 4th line with size. What do they do against an LA with 3 lines with size?

If all are healthy - and two of Kruger/Frolik (mainstays on a very good PK this year) and/or Carcillo/Bollig have to sit - killing penalties - two units, don't forget, and want to limit top-6 players time on PK - is probably more important than a fighter who can't fight (because it's the play-offs) and an agitator.
I play K/F, sit B/C. |

thaks...last night when in the box against that Konopka, a Hawk blob man-love favorite, I don't thnk they were discussing their summer plans together.
I don't exactly know what Shaw's shelf life will be from all this, but he just makes me laugh with joy almost every game.
Hey and if I was gonna a add a class act from Minny to Hawks it would be Kyle Brodziak, after he used the bear hug last night to make sure he didn't injury a hawk at the benches... - wiz1901
I was hoping he would make it to UFA a few years back (Brodziak) so the Hawks miight grab him. Not sure about his production since though. He has had some great games against the Hawks. |

Philadelphia Flyers traded Dan Hamhuis to the Pittsburgh Penguins for a 3rd round selection in 2010.
But think bigger....the rights to Stalberg and a IceDog to a team that can use both speed and depth competition....
Oh, and many of the games Bollig dressed were diretcly related to injuries at forward? |

Disagree.
The Hawks got back into both the Vancouver series in 2011 and the Phoenix series last year when they stopped letting themselves get checked out of the building.
Much harder to get to 16 victories in the postseason with a track team than a balanced skill/pop team. Much harder. Look at the teams that win it, year after year.
Like it or not, Carcillo and Bollig could get some TOI in the playoffs. Not to fight, but to hit some people. |
