Don't know much about him but I've suggested they also sign Oshawa D Matt PetGrave.
- ob18

Not sure he would go over well with the Anti-Vick crowd.

I didn't see much of him (one game I think) until the tournament but he's posted huge numbers and has looked solid. He's a little hard to evaluate when his teams only giving up 4-7 shots a period.

I've been mainly focused on the OHL but try to tune in to some QMJHL games and WHL (assuming I can stay awake for them)

Vancouver probably will trade him. They had offers but nothing they liked. Tells me that if they wanted to buy him out they could of just dealt him and got whatever they could at the deadline.
- stveshdy

No one would take him without Vancouver swallowing some of the salary and they wouldn't. That's what everyone was saying trade deadline day.

If Luongo gets bought out, he might be willing to sign for fewer years, since he'll still be getting paid by the Canucks.

Maybe he'll take 4 years, $22mm or something

- Jsaquella

The buyout would be like 25 million. That's nuts

I wonder how much the organization is willing to invest in another goalie because they must think Mason can be salvaged. $5 million/yr on another goalie could be salty if Mason gets turned around. It will be an interesting decision this summer if Bryz is bought out. No doubt they will bring in a vet goalie to pair with Mason.

Vancouver wasn't trading him at the deadline without getting more assets. He gives them a great second option if Schneider falters for the playoffs, and as a contender they probably weren't interested in picks or prospects.

That said, there's no telling that that won't change. Of course, with the cap dropping they might have little choice. Right now they have around $1.4mm in space for next year with 8 forwards and 5 defensemen under contract for next year.

Thats possible. Luongo said he would love to rip up his contract and re-do it. Unfortunately he doesnt play in the NFL.

Im guessing their preference will be signing Emery. But when it comes to the Flyers and goalies nothing would surprise me.

Until a couple weeks ago, I assumed they'd be hanging onto Bryzgalov until next summer. But the inconsistent play, coupled with the sideshow exploding makes me think that he's all but certain to be bought out this summer.

Of course, if Snider is serious in wanting to keep Bryz, that trumps all.

I still like the potential of Lauridsen. He makes mistakes, but you can't teach that kind of size and decent skating. I think he can be serviceable on the third pairing next year.

Agreed. But the Canucks might be forced to go the buyout route in the summer. It's hard to see how they fill the holes on their roster and keep both him and Schneider.

Of course if a team really wants him, they might trade a pick or prospects before the draft. Hard to see a team willing to take on that monster now, especially with the situation the Canucks are in combined with the dropping cap and recapture penalties.

I would be interested if he was bought out. However, then I think you see a handful of teams also look to get him in the fold.

i heard the same thing. VAN has zero leverage. can't see jumping from one sh1t contract to another and giving up assets for Lu.

I believe it is more likely he will be bought out. More so to create salary cap flexibility to address the blueline. However, may be things could change if Lava isn't back and depending what the new head coach thinks.

I'm sure that you would. Then it boils down to what he decides.

Despite all the free agents that decided not to play in this infernal Hellhole of a city, there's dedicated ownership who wants to win and will spend the money to win.

How many of the interested teams can offer that?

If the Flyers buy out Briere and Bryzgalov, they will have a ton of cap space. I wouldn't go nuts on any of the current UFA goalies, so there wouldn't be $6mm committed to that position, unless they swing a deal or a Luongo gets bought out.

And I'd love Luongo on a 4 year deal for $5mm or so. He's a riot, could easily be a Pronger like interview, where Bryz comes off awkward or goofy

he's not the same plyr by any stretch, but gagne's speed and d presence is still an asset.

Edmonton's owner held the city hostage for a new building. That's not exactly dedicated. If Luongo were to sign here as a UFA, he knows he'll be in Philadelphia for the whole term

if they made it work #s wise, i'd be fine with Lu. Never have been a fan, but something tells me he just wouldn't get poop on the way Bryz does.

Not many.

It would come down to what Luongo is looking for.

he's a good guy as goalies go. he has his hiccups which keep him from being elite, but he's better than bryz and def a team plyr.
