There were pages upon pages on this site dedicated to the partying and other BS and about Bryzgalov being a goofball last year, despite the winning. If it gets reported, it gets talked about. - Jsaquella
Almost every team has to deal with bad reporting/writing. Its not just Philadelphia. |

Most cities go through the same crap with the media. Plenty of other big markets that deal with this all the time. - stveshdy
Its just part of why I am leaning away from Bryzgalov. You would think by now he would have learned to not engage, or give such ammo to the media. HE falls for it every time and creates distractions. I dont believe in one player being that much bigger than the rest of the team, and to a degree he has helped make his own bed.
Toronto and Montreal are even more crazy hockey markets, with crazy media but players adjust. Bryzgalov did, but he is coming undone yet again. |

In reply to the poster who pretty much was saying that reality doesn't matter, and that you were just posting a roster you'd like to see. Well why stop at Ryan then?
I think the factor that you're overlooking is that there is a Salary Cap. And that the Cap is going down. And the Flyers are going to be tight to it. - MJL
At what point did I overlook a Salary cap? Please be specific as you ask posters you challenge. I've been clear about MY desire for the Flyers to buyout Briere and Bryz. Right or wrong that is 'MY' position. Please be specific in expaining to me how adding $5.1 million towards the cap and removing over $12 million from the cap for buyouts on Briere and Bryz constitutes me overlooking cap space? |

Bryzgalov has to realise his comments and sometimes actions create distractions. Real fans could care less about this poop but when the team or organization has to continously cover up for his ass it becomes a problem imo.
The media in other cities is a joke also, this is not a Philadelphia issue alone. - flyer_nutter
How have they had to continually had to cover up for his ass? Look at who is creating the problem and assign the blame there. Throughout the last few days, you've said many times that real fans could care less about stuff like this, but you're continually discussing it.

So imagine what G can do with a true goal scorer. Doesn't have to be Ryan, but a true goal scorer could be lethal with G and Voracek. - jstross
I don't think Claude is being held back by the 3rd player on his line, rather Giroux is being held back by Giroux.
That said, something definitely needs to change 5v5 for this team or next season is going to be much like this one. |

we def have a scoring problem, but i want to build from the d out. i'm ok drafting a forward who is ready now if we need to trade a guy like b schenn to get a dman. i would def concentrate on drafting dmen from the 2nd rnd on as long as it's not a reach. - isaiah520
it's not necessarily a scoring problem, but an issue with keeping sustained pressure in the offense zone. they get the puck in deep, hope to get the puck in front of the net and get a shot. otherwise, the other team possesses the puck and counters.
There's very little cycling of the puck. I guess part of the issue is the "system" or coaching, but they also don't have the personnel with the skill set to do it. |

It's hardly a Philadelphia thing, however, it's as bad here as anywhere else. |

He could turn out to be the better version of Coburn for us, young talented guy who was basically in the outs with his team.
The difference is coburn was making small money, this guy is carrying a big contract. |

I have no problem criticizing what they write. What I do have a problem is using them as an excuse for this team being disfuntional (not picking out anyone specifically). The media doesnt turn pucks over, give up breakaways, take penalties, etc. - stveshdy
i guess i can't speak for anyone, but i seriously doubt that many people would cite "media" as what's wrong with this team. their ineptitude is just more obvious (and therefore draws more criticism) when the team is struggling (probably because this is when they really start to let the BS flow) |

It isn't. But it can be a distraction. If you don't think that it can be, then you're ignoring that these guys are humans, and fairly young adults.
I've seen brutal Toronto writers talk about how "tough" the Philadelphia media can be to deal with. |

Vanek isn't soft by any means. Probably a little overpaid due to the Offer Sheet that Edmonton signed him to. He's a real strong player. - MJL
No worries, but I feel differently about Vanek.
The last thing time team needs is an overaid, physically intimidated, somewhat questionable defensively, inconsistent player they will rely on. |

Giroux was all over the ice tonight. Played a great game.
So did Couturier.
Bryz was the only reason this game was close. |

Media puts pressure on players no doubt. I just think when you get on the ice the last thing you think about is what a reporter wrote today. |

Separate argument/Discussion. In fact if I included an NHL roster player it would improve the teams Cap position versus other assets only?

I dont care what he says, but I do when it affects the team, which personally I think it does. He has become bigger than any player on the team, by a wide margin.
He says or does things that by now he should know will make his team-mates cover up for him, or be asked guestions about his actions/words.
I fully agree that the media is to blame here mainly. However Bryzgalov has an ability to keep quiet and give cliche answers. Not give them ammo. The media is not going away any time soon (unfortunately), and he makes his own bed somewhat. He kept it calm and cool to a degree, but is starting to come apart again. The media just wait for it, they try to bait him and he falls for it each time. Leaving his team-mates to answer continous questions, which I do believe is a negative attribute. |

What ammo to the media? What the media does is take his statements. misinterpret them to create drama where there is none. He doesn't fall for anything, nor does he create distractions. Were on day 2 now of making all of this into far more then it is. It seems as though some people other then Bryzgalov are falling for it. Same as 3 years ago.

agreed, as demonstrated by their relative success on the PP and lack thereof during 5 on 5
hopefully this can be addressed by adding some d man that are better at handling the puck |
