It was a problem before Bryzgalov got here, but some players handle it better than others.
I posted before that the Flyers should cut off media access, or at the very least be able to control some of what is talked about. That will never happen though but one can dream. - flyer_nutter
It was an issue before Bryzgalov arrived. Then it was Richards and the Old City crew not taking a trip to Dry Island. |

Thats why I dont read or follow them at all. I come here to talk puck with people who follow the game. The media has no affect on how I view the game of hockey. I use my own eyes and make my own decisions. The Flyers just havent played well this season. - stveshdy
I dont read those websites at all. Never have really.
My issue would come into play where I believe one players actions create distractions for the team. I do believe that is the case here, but that is just me. Again, not his fault, but he has an ability to be better about it instead of falling for the trap. |

It will continue for generations. Thats what the media does today with all the competition. Sell, sell, sell... |

He can keep quiet like he did earlier in the season to me.
I dont think this is some grand issue, but in the scheme of things, and his two seasons in Philadelphia, he has complained a lot over how bad it is there. In various articles and interviews that we have all seen.
It might not be as much of a distraction for the team, but to say its not at all is ridiculous as well to me. I'd be willing to bet that to a degree it is to him as well. He can keep his mouth shut and give those guys less to work with, but he falls for the bait every time. I am not in favour of one player being so much larger than the rest of the team. Its not his fault, but he isn't helping it much. Just keep quiet and give boring answers. Thats all he has to do. - flyer_nutter
You might not be in favor of one player being so much larger then the rest of the team, but that's not the real World. Star players, players signed to big contracts. They get the spotlight put on them. Especially when the team is struggling.

Know what I dont like?
Dry Island never should have got out. Yet it came to be true so someone said something.
I think the Bryzgalov sleeping rumor is BS but there is too much stuff that gets out from in house. The joys of the continous hard on that society has with instant information and twitter. |

You can still talk about the Flyers and not have to give a hoot about what those guys are writing. If fans are following them and using that info to talk hockey then its a convo I would avoid. Its like talk to a wall. - stveshdy
so just give people (people that i know and like...) the cold shoulder?
even if you do that, you still can't escape the nonsense. you still have to deal with it, in one way or the other. it's all over the place |

This team has bigger issues then what Bryz says to the media or what the media is reporting. Only the players, coach and organization know whats going on. Those people are there every single day. |

There are NHL rules involved. The team has to allow the Media access.

If you dont think his actions over 2 seasons have created too many times where his team has had to cover for him, or answer questions, or if it is a distraction thats cool. I think those are problems, that could at the very least be limited by being boring/cliche with the media and not looking like he just smoked a big joint in Winnipeg.

Dont have to give the cold shoulder. You just dont have to get into great detail.
This nonsense is all over the place not just philly. The media in todays world look for whatever story that will sell. Its all about getting the dirt.
Theres no pride in getting the info right or researching before printing. Todays generation wants everything fast. We look for things that are wrong to sell it. If we talk about all the good no one cares. Been like that for centuries. |

His contract will always be a scarlet letter.
Unfortunately last year isnt forgotten, and even though he hasnt been the problem. He has not been consistent enough, for what his contract is, what he showed in Phoenix, and what was expected of him because of that.
I will 100% say that the organization has failed him as well, but thats another story. |

And it's all been absolute crap! All of it. Same thing with the Richards and Carter crap. Such as not wearing the right hat, and the partying. I laughed my ass off reading that grade school nonsense. Never bought any of it for a second. How soon until Giroux is the next victim?

the real problem isn't bryz, it's these jerkoffs (or i guess the jerkoffs that buy their bullpoop) |

No, it doesn't open up that window. It wouldn't matter what he says, he is the target. They target the one who is most vulnerable. Why because goaltending is the perceived weakness of the Organization. And he's signed to a big contract, and the team is floundering. You want him to reply with cliches that aren't in there. He is replying with cliches. His cliches!
And answer me this. Why can't the team just use the boring/cliche approach, when asked about Bryzgalov. Guess what? They have. Mountain out of a molehill. For something that you state doesn't matter to a real fan. It sure matters to you. - MJL
The same people ripping Bryz's reaction are the same ones who embraced Pronger ripping the media on a regular basis. If Bryz didn't nap in a meeting why not call out the reporters. Roenick was beloved and he always had something to say. A whole lot of nothing here. |

absolutely. we think of it as more of a service, but it's a for profit business. and what sells is stirring up poop, unfortunately. doesn't mean we have to sit still and take it quietly, though! |

Its not even that to me. I dont blame Bryz. I am a guy who would probably do the same. I cant hold poop in.
However I dont think the media will be going away any time soon. He seemed to adjust a bit this season and was quiet. He has been coming apart again.
Again, I could care less what he says. I care what it creates distractions for the team in general, which I believe it does. Many cities are like this, Luongo has it hard in Vancouver also, but Bryzgalov hasn't adjusted well imo. |

If you think bryz doesn't know exactly what he is doing you're kidding yourself. He likes the attention and drama as much as the reporters. They're playing this stupid game together. |

No he hasn't put the spotlight on himself more then it needs to be. Don't be ridiculous. How many times did Bryzgalov call a press conference? Or invite the Media because he has something he wants to say. He gives his time in interviews because he has to. And he answers honestly. And what happens? The media clowns screw him for it. Because most of them should be writing copy for the National Enquirer, then covering a pro sports team.
I don't know how many times I have to explain that the cliches you want him to use, aren't part of his vernacular.
