look I have faith in the Pens but unlike other sports winning the stanley cup is
s one of the most difficult things to do in any team sport. But this much I will tell you the ownership has given the team everything humanly possible to win the cup while the flyers management obviously had no faith in your team and stood pat. lol: - bigdaddywaite

Penguins fans sure take this whole rivalry thing a lot more seriously than Flyers fans, don't they?

It's kind of sad that your feeling of self worth seems dependent on groups of strangers winning sporting events.
Not to mention the need to troll the fanbase of another team to make you feel better about needing a set of tweezers to be able to aim your stream when you micturate.
I could give a rat's ass about the Steelers or Pirates. Football is for brain dead idiots who can't digest more than 20 seconds of sustained action. And the Pirates are about as well attended as my kids' little league games. Or that fact that Pittsburgh can't support 4 pro sports teams, because their fanbase is made of notorious frontrunning imbeciles.
You see, when the Flyers decided they needed a new arena, they paid for it themselves. They didn't hold the city and state hostage and threaten to move the team to Kansas City. Nor is the number of championships the Flyers have won dwarfed by the number of times they finished dead last.
When the Flyers superstar player retired, he was hired as GM. He didn't take over ownership of the team because he was owed so much money that to recoup it he had to become the owner. He didn't have to resume playing again to draw fans.
So, before you go ahead and say 1975, remember, the Flyers didn't need to be one of the worst teams in the NHL for five years to become a contender again. They needed one. And for the multitude of reasons they're struggling this year, most are easily fixed, by getting guys healthy and by younger players becoming more consistent. If it requires more, then we have no doubt that our management will expend every effort and every dollar to fix it, rather than willingly trade away star players and accepting poor quality hockey for an extended period. - Jsaquella

Anyone have a particular tema they are pulling for now? I tend to go game by game in terms of who id like to see win when Flyers are out. I like the Preds, but they're toast too. |

Montreal in the East. (love the city)
Columbus in the West. I hope they squeeze into the playoffs and Bobs gets hot, turns into a f'n wall. |

I try to stay neutral as much as I can and just enjoy the games, but if a team is playing particularly well, I might find myself quietly rooting for them.
I just want to find a series that's as fun to watch as the old Avs/Red Wings matchups were.

Good call. like how the Habs have turned the ship all the way around. Also am happy for Columbus and Bob, except I despise Dubinsky. |

Yeah, me too in terms of enjoying it. Find myself rooting for the underdog most times.
Having said that, if it wasn't for that meddling twitter account, I would be more solidly rooting for LA to repeat. I want to see an LA v. Chicago series. |

Yeah, once you get past Bobs, Umberger and Prospal, I'm very Meh about the team. Still, watching the playoffs w/out the Flyers, Meh is to be expected for most series. |

To be honest, I have enjoyed watching non-Flyers hockey a lot more this year than Flyers hockey. My wife wants to know why I'm watching all this other hockey all the time and I have to answer that it's because it's better and more fun to watch.

I'm bummed. I spent like 6 minutes typing that and he went away.
Maybe he had to go make sure he was 'Burgh Verified or add the little C to his twitter avatar. |

It's funny you say that, but I've been watching a lot more non-Flyers hockey this year as well. Fortunately, my wife is right there with me, and we'll usually flip back and forth between a game and something like Chopped, although I prefer to watch science shows. Still, it's all about compromise.
And there's no doubt, playoff hockey is the best sport to watch, so getting into it is real easy.
I'll be cheering for Montreal, Ottawa, Islanders, Minnesota, and Columbus. aka, the underdogs. |

To make you feel better, I think you can safely assume he read it and had absolutely no rebuttal, therefore he meekly went away.
As the kids say, he got pwnd.

there are allegedly priorities. |

Do you think that Brodeur will finish the season with 666 wins or will he win at least 1 more?
I would like to see Columbus make the postseason but they only have a 7% chance.
Nashville has only a .3% chance of making the playoffs. It's petty, but for them financially, it made no sense to match the Weber offersheet.
What I find funny is that everyone says you have to overpay for defense but teams like Nashville and Phoenix really need to overpay for offense but, for the most part, they'd rather miss the playoffs than overpay for offense. Holding on to assets for the assets sake. It's great to hold on to Weber if he's going to bring in fans and help win the team a round or 2 of playoffs but if you can't win 2-1 games every night it does you no good. Winning 3-2 is better than losing 2-1.

The opening statement holds true for a lot of people, sadly. And unfortunately I grew tired of football but I do like the steelers.
Good work tho, John and I'd be saying that if roles were reversed meaning of the flyers more recently won cups etc. and a flyer fan was trolling them. |
