I prefer to go the luongo route if he becomes available. I doubt la is Dumb enuf to poopcan Quick a year removed from a cup. Bernier is an unproven. I'd rather get a proven vet like luongo. Can be inconsistent like bryzgalov but I think we can all agree his resume and ability are an upgrade. We have stolarz in the system and maybe just maybe Mason really is a diamond in the rough. - JoeRussomanno
Lu after a buyout or bernier who is an RFA who they may not want to pay and then trade. that's 2 there. i like the 2 young guys w/ exp myself. i think stolarz could be at least 3-4 yrs away. that's an eternity in this org. |

Right now I don't think I would and I like both players a fair amount. - ob18
Its funny, I have seen Nurse ranked as low as 5 and as high as 19 on various rankings. Monahan beetween 6 and 9. pretty consistent. means nothing. just found it interesting |

You wouldn't take Nurse ahead of Monahan at #6? - Feanor
No, I wouldn't. But I WOULD consider the option of trading down a few spots and taking Nurse or Ristolainen.

I felt the opposite, RE: Richards and Carter.
I felt like Carter was redundant, but Richards, to me, was going to be a perennial Selke nominee. - johndewar
well, if we don't trade him, couts could be the selke guy. |

Maybe long term Nurse have a better projection. As for now Monahan can play I believe LW and center and really might be NHL ready now.
He put up decent numbers on a 67's team that has the worst record in the OHL and is going through a rebuild of sorts in juniors. So I think that had a little something to do with his stock falling a bit. |

Not sure what teams view Monahan as in terms of positions but he can bring a good all around game to a team. |

In starting to do more serious draft research -- talking to scout contacts and people who have watched some these players every game -- I've been getting mixed reviews on Nurse. Everyone loves his athleticism and aggressiveness but some have questions over both his hockey sense and his offensive upside. Others think he could end up being nearly as good as Jones, with only a little less offense.
That shouldn't deter the Flyers. But Monahan would be a very safe pick with definite top-six forward upside within a few years. There's not much NOT to like about him. |

Most think he'll play center in the NHL.

I'm doing the same with at least watching junior games though mainly OHL but I'll ask those who at least cover each league with any questions to get some perspective on players. |

I would be happy with Ristolainen if the Flyers end up around 9 or 10. Him and Kimmo would be a very interesting defense pair. |

Skating needs to improve but he offers a lot to like with what he did in Finland. A shame his season ended in round 1 with a shoulder injury I believe. |

I have no objection really other than I feel the criticisms to follow these players will be copy and pasted from past discussion about bryzgalov likewise the defenses. |

I knew he got hurt, but I dont know what it was or the extent.
I remember how dominant he was in the U-20 tourney.. thought the kid was at least 19... |

Their cap hits will become significantly less of a burden as the cap goes up (which it will after next season). Something to consider. - BulliesPhan87
at that juncture, i don't think that was the big consideration. more about the NTCs and concerns about how comfortable those two were. as usual, the org enabled their share of this. |

Some teams might but in draft rankings from the places that put them out he's not going to drop too far. |
