The Flyers need to figure out a way to stay healthy. Lavi didn't have all is weapons which hurts. The GM's backup plan after missing out on Weber, Suter, and Parise wasnt very good. Tough decisions have to be made. - stveshdy
I don't think the thought of not getting Weber ever entered Holmgren's mind because matching that salary was such a colossal financial commitment for Nashville. |

There was no backup plan. All the eggs were in the Weber basket. When Nashville matched the offer sheet, there was nothing left to do but go shopping at the dollar store. - PLindbergh31
The dollar store is definately cheaper but sometimes you can find good deals. The Flyers arent horrible but their not very good either. This has just been the season of hell bc nothing has gone right.
My list of moves:
1. Keep or fire coach
2. 1-2 puck moving defenseman
3. More defensive oriented
4. Goalie (stay or go) |

Guy Boucher and his magical scar? - jmatchett383
I want them to pry Tortorella out of NY. Then Bryz and he can tag team the beat writers after every game.

Still have to prepare and have another plan ready incase Nashville matches. No guarantee the Flyers were going to land Weber. |

The "shopping at the dollar store" is the best metaphor yet. I'll throw in mine... "the chickens of last July have come home to roost". |

Yes. Not to mention the rash of injuries thrust these marginal players into roles they weren't capable of handling.

Agreed, but it's obvious at this point that there was no plan B. |

I wasnt sure how this team was going to be this year. When you look at the additions compared to the subtractions (before start of year) this team got worse. |

Kurtis Foster's accountant probably didn't have an issue with this. |

No doubt about it. Have to do a better job this offseason. Need to be creative this summer to improve the team. |

After not landing Weber/Suter/Parise, I didn't feel good about the Flyers' chances, but I also kinda thought (as I'm guessing the Flyers did as well) was that Couturier and Brayden Schenn would compensate by chipping in a certain amount of offense that they were incapable of providing.. |

Worse by a significant margin. Throw in a ridiculous amount of injuries, and basically every players production from the year before dropping off a cliff, and you have yourself a cluster(frank) of a season. |

If Foster had played the same amount of games as Gervais, I don't see how he could have been worse. |

How so? They have to decide which direction they want to go. Without knowing the coach its hard to determine the style of play they are looking for.
Bryz is also an important decision. They need to give him another year or look at other options. |

Depending on Schenn and Couturier was the first mistake. Your asking two young kids who have played 1 full season to produce too much offensively. Neither is ready to be that player yet imo. They showed flashes but most young players go through growing pains. |

The coach will be in place one way or the other by the draft I would presume. |

It was before the meeting. Some of the players were discussing the last 45 years of Maple leaf history. - JoeRussomanno
LOL, typical Flyers, obsessed with the Leafs. Must be humbling to know that your players spend so much time talking about the Leafs instead of their own team.

Making a decision on the next coach (whether its Lavi or not) is very important for the franchise going forward. |

It's a better NHL when the Leafs are relevant. Unfortunately that is as often as Haley's comet. |
