Laviolette needs to go for the following reasons:
1. His never ending mishandling of goalies
2. His unwillingness to adjust his system to fit his personnel until it was way too late
3. His awful mishandling of Couturier
4. His refusal to hold veterans accountable for making the same mistakes over and over again.

Flyers couldnt ice a team if they held everyone accountable, this entire team from forward to D underperformed save maybe a couple guys.

Worse by a significant margin. Throw in a ridiculous amount of injuries, and basically every players production from the year before dropping off a cliff, and you have yourself a cluster(frank) of a season. - PLindbergh31
"bigger, stronger, faster" came back as smaller, weaker and slower. what we didn't expect was this much of a drop off. we went from weber to Plan 9 from Outer Space....
I don't think the thought of not getting Weber ever entered Holmgren's mind because matching that salary was such a colossal financial commitment for Nashville. - johndewar
Flyers had a chance to help out the blueline this year by dealing for Subban. He's not Weber, but I'm not sure Weber and his $7.8 million cap hit for 4 1st rounders is better than Subban with a cap hit of $2.875 for a 1st rounder(top 10 pick) or Flyers add a 3rd rounder in 2014.
People keep complaining about not getting Weber for 4 1st rounders when the Flyers could've had Bowmeister for 1 1st rounder. I know they' not equivilent, but I'd take Bow and the 3 firsts over Weber.

Perhaps if some were benched/scratched early on they might not be as bad as they are now. I believe the Flyers have as much talent as the Islanders and the injury ravaged Senators; there is NO reason they shouldnt at least be able to compete for a playoff spot!
How many times does Hartnell take a dumb penalty or end up way out of position before he pays a price? How many times does Briere float the neutral zone, completely ignoring his defensive responsibilities before he gets benched? How many times does Coburn make an unforced turnover or fail to be in the proper position before he takes a seat? Yet a guy like Rinaldo will have a fantastic shift, and then spends the next 10 minutes on the bench.

Good for Bryz, I love it. He doesn't rant, doesn't yell, offers up his own opinion on it all. - KGBflyers10
I appreciated his tone. He seemed genuinely embarrassed by the whole situation, and made it understood that everybody else involved is embarrassed, even if they don't feel that way.

It was before the meeting. Some of the players were discussing the last 45 years of Maple leaf history. - JoeRussomanno

Sorry but Lavy has been brutal this year. - BiggE
Laviolette has done a very poor job in both preparation and in game coaching this year.
His handing of Couturier alone is enough reason for him to be fired, IMO. How many other young players who are considered cornerstones by their franchise play almost exclusively in 4th line roles with 4th line grinders and goons?

He was more worried about his job than the development of the players. However, we don't know what he's being told by upper management.

so sad and pathetic that if he does get bought out this will be one of the videos/soundbytes that encapsulates his time here
dont get me wrong, i love what he said and how he said it, but it pisses me off to see yet another Flyer eaten alive by the media here - Crimsoninja
Well put.
EDIT: A poster here said on the twitter that it was funny to see the beat reporting Bryz shaming them. I don't think it's funny. They fabricated a story into existence, successfully cultivating and selling it.

He's been told by management to win. That's all they care about.

I would agree on that assesment, between Hartnell's dumbness and Briere just not having it. Looks like we are stuck with Hartsy for a while, Briere sounds likely gone. Ive been a big Rinaldo fan from day one he deserves more time on the ice for sure. This team next year with a full offseason and hopefully a few upgrades will be pretty strong. This was a just a bad and whacky year, with the injuries, lockout just not our year.

i saw someone mention it earlier, but its worth repeating
while some of those reporters i do think love to create drama, others really have no choice but to address this (and other stories like it). Once Mayes first reported it on the radio and it spread around, the reporters really dont have a choice but to report on it. Otherwise their editors would can them.

I was listening to Bob MacKenzie on XM Home Ice today, and he was saying how the issues with Bryzgalov are such a distraction he could see a buyout, but at the same time made it clear that Bryzgalov hasn't been the team's biggest problem and actually played pretty well for most of the first part of the year.
The hosts, Scott Laughlin and Mike Brophy commented on the video above, not really taking Bryzgalov to task, but noting that he does have the rep as a goofy guy. Brophy pointed out that Bryzgalov has always been an entertaining interview, who is honest and doesn't have a habit of hiding from his share of the blame.
What I found interesting is, nobody mentioned Dry Island, or the other nonsense about Carter and Richards, or other past examples of the Philly media running amok.

The best they can do at that point is downplay it - Crimsoninja
That's true, they can't just ignore a big story like this, even if it's dumb and stupid. So some of the angst (or at least my angst) should be directed at the system (or the situation or whatevs). It still really ruffles my feathers, though.

The problem is, Seravalli reporting on what started on 97.5 and a TMZ website that substitutes Philly sports for the Lohan or Kardashian families, made it a bigger story.

It's all part of a bigger picture that is the Philly sports media. I dislike a lot of it, but it really seems like most fans want this kind of reporting. People eat this poop up. So I'll withhold further comment. You know what they say: "It's better to remain silent and be thought a misanthrope, than to speak out and remove all doubt."
