There's no " bad guy" here, media or bryz. They are using each other, the reporters love it and so does bryz. No doubt in my mind that he was faking sleep to get some attention, laughs or whatever. It pissed off a teammate or two enough that they spoke about it. Not a big deal either way, but to say the media is "eating him alive" or running him out of town I think is way overstated. He does this type of stuff because he likes the attention. - ukeman
i think he likes certain kinds of attention...not this, imo. |

What makes you think they could've had Subban? - MJL
Ok, Mr. nothing is possible unless you think so, here's why.
A Flyers 1st rd probably get's it done. I would've sweetened the pot considerably. Flyers make the playoffs they get a 2014 3rd ...It was doable.
What makes you think it couldn't be done?
It's very obvious a guaranteed Flyers 1st rounder this year was much more desirable than the Blues Conditional 1st offer and 1 reach(not coming west) and .. for Bouwmeister.never know though.
I guess we'll |

There are most certainly teammates who dislike Bryzgalov, and vice versa. That's part and parcel of having a losing team and a goalie with a strong personality like Bryzgalov's.
However, the "fell asleep" story was in probability, nonsense. All you had to do was hear Knuble's response to have a pretty good sense of the story's plausibility. - bmeltzer
yea, i saw mike's response and i know that this is blowing up more out of the losing atmosphere than anything else.
Friedman, earlier on XM, surmised that this entire affair was more an outgrowth of the video circulating from WPG, where bryz appeared to be nodding off when mason took over. from there it seemed to take on a life of it's own. |

I'll be honest just a 1st and a 3rd for Subban wouldn't get it done you'd need to add B. Schenn or Coots maybe even both.
A top pair D will not come cheap EVER. This is why they need to learn to develop them. |

I realize you can't offer sheet everyone, but a 1st and 3rd makes it a lucrative sheet. Monreal was in good position so a top 10 pick with additional compensation would've been enticing. it's all speculation, but at the time I would've parted with a 1 when others wouldn't.
What we know is the Flyers WILL NOT get a puck movinf Dman for nothing. |

Ok. so when someone say 2 1sts the board elites say that's too high. So 4 1sts and an almost $8 mil hit is significantly better than 2 1st's and a $2.85 mil hit? No, no, no IMO. You'd still have 2 1st's and $5million in cap space to get other improvements. |
|
|
|
IMO, what we're starting to understand from a lot of posters is that Weber for 4 1sts with his cap hit at almost $8 million wouldn't have been such a great move. |

I'll take the on-the-record word of several players known to be honest to a fault over an anonymous quote reported by Sevaralli.

understood, but based on bryz's past I believe it wasn't a reporters fabrication, or a disgruntled teammate making it up. |

not really, just based on his behavior I think it's plausible that he was goofing around. So the quotes that say he "wasn't sleeping" aren't a lie, they're just not the whole truth. Just like with all of these type of stories I don't think any of us really know the "facts". Again, not a big deal if he was to me. |

just to clarify - Im not saying I like or respect the beat guys covering the team. I think they're pretty useless, which is why I come here for real analysis from you Bill.
However, the way it's portrayed by some is that the big evil media are dragging bryz or the team down somehow or running him out of town. I don't believe that is the case. Who knows the real story? Based on his personality I could definitely see there being at least some truth to it. I do think he enjoys this game. If it doesn't work out here this gives him a nice story to sell to the next fan base about "goalie hell". To me there's enough bs on both sides to go around. |

speaking of metal bands, today i discovered that there is an all-female iron maiden tribute band, dubbed, not surprisingly, the iron maidens. literally the best thing i've read all day. - hammarby31
Heard of em, never heard em, though. I can't fault anybody who wants to be Iron Maiden. |

or d) frank took an inch and made it a foot. he connected dots or filled in gaps in the story. i feel like 90% of the nonsense comes from the reporters taking "logical" leaps based on the info they get
and of course, those conclusions would never help make the story he was selling more marketable |

Never stated that it wasn't possible. Anything is possible. I asked you what makes you think the Flyers could've gotten Subban? Just because anything is possible? You just come up with what you think a value is for a player, and say see they could've had him. Which I guess apparently the other team doesn't have a say! Secondly, there is no way in hell, that a first round pick would've gotten the Habs to trade Subban. The Habs clearly were not interested or looking to trade Subban. That's obvious. If the Flyers wanted Subban, they likely would've had to give up Giroux. That's how highly the Habs value Subban. The facts and the situation needs to be considered. Or else it's just fantasy Hockey. |

It's really unbelievable how this crap goes on. Have you ever closed your eyes just to take a deep breath and relax for a few seconds? This is so ridiculous. What's even more ridiculous is the thought that the Flyers are bothered by this video. It's not High School! |

If were using the past to come to a conclusion on Bryzgalov, let's look at the past behavior of some of the media in this town. You can't believe that they incompetent media in this town would make issues out of nothing for the shock value? |

I bet everyone on the Flyers thread that is a Flyers fan, would agree to the Flyers giving up a first round pick for Subban. Now what is the additional compensation? And let's look at it from both sides. Not just from a Flyers perspective. |
