If the nucks buyout luongo I'd feel alright if the flyers scooped him up and amnestied bryzgalov. - JoeRussomanno
I'd be interested in that, if it comes to fruition. A big if, though; as buying out Luongo is a tough pill to swallow. |

I rather save that money, and go after Emery, seeing what they really have in those two. (Mason/Razor)
This team isn't one season away from winning a cup but I see what people mean with Luongo. His contract would scare me because I see Toronto bidding hard. |

I don't see how you sign Mason to a 1-year deal and buyout Bryz that summer. There is no stability with that move. Mason lost his job to Bob and has has "fallen from grace" since his Calder year. It makes much more sense that they buyout Briere (if anyone), and let 2013-2014 prove as tryout for both Bryz and Mason to be the franchise goalie. - steelydan
It would indeed be high comedy if Bob's backup would unseat the "franchise goalie" that Bob was shipped out for so that Bob wouldn't steal Bryz's playing time. |

I think that when the team plays cohesive defense in front of him, you see Bryz able to manage the hockey game and go on streak or two. He may not be worth his cap hit, but the Flyers are hurting for some consistency back there. Buying out Bryz this summer and going into the off-season with Mason @ 1 year and a FA pickup isn't exactly screaming confidence. - steelydan
if Lu is bought out, i'd be interested. there will be others available and that's why i wouldn't close the door on a change.
this morning, eskin said bryz will be back, however. i think it's premature to say that, but then again, bryz is prominently featured in nxt yrs ticket ads, so... |

Why would they buy him out when teams he's willing to go to are offering assets for him?
If nothing else he will go to Toronto when Vancouver is forced to lower the asking price. |

So it's a mix of checking ESPN stats and local radio? Come on, dude. Are you really watching the games? I won't say that Bryz stole every win this year, because he certainly could have played better. But the Flyers' record this year can be solely laid upon the teams' effort, not any one player. |

I think at this point bryz wants to get bought... He's been one of our better players but I think the constant glare is going to get to him... His tiff with the reporters the other day tells me he's had enough. |

He does for sure. Quick as hell, but those rebounds need to be worked on. Puck handling is a big plus.
Im trying to have minimal expectations with him. Players get on hot streaks. Coots against Malkin, and Schenn had his hot streak this season.
I think this organization gets a little too excited with its young players too soon at times as well.
If somehow he gets into a fight this season 50% of the fanbase will be screaming for him to take over as #1. - flyer_nutter
I understand what you are writing about Mason. However, you can see the logic why they acquired with his combination of size, puck handling, and quickness. As for the sophomores, I'm definitely don't want to see Lava back. He staples those guys to the bench when they make mistakes, and let's his veterans do equally stupid plays and rewards them with PP time.

Flyers need to play Mason the rest of the way out
We already know what we've got in Bryz. They need to figure out if Mason is ready to start next season or not.
Of course they won't do that and he'll only get 1-2 more starts because Lavy is an idiot but eh that's what I'd do.
He looks real good today. And looked good last game as well |

Im just more of at a point where if it seems the Flyers could get their hands on Emery/Backstrom I'd buy him out now.
Less distractions, and a similar performance for cheaper. |

Not sure how much validity there is to that statement. If they wanted to trade him, it could have happened at the TDL. I'm not doubting that there is interest in his services. But teams would likely rather hold onto their assets and suit him as a FA as opposed to trading a big piece or two and have him at his hefty contract. |

I think they will split the games down the middle for the most part, maybe giving Bryz an extra game.
Mason has looked good so far. Even if he looks great over the last 7, I don't think it's grounds to be the opening day goalie. |

Here's a hypothetical. If Bryz was bought out this year (unlikely as it may be) what team would even consider making him a starting goalie again next year? The only team i can think of that would even think of handing Bryz the reigns might be Phoenix due to Smith being a FA and past history. Panthers might be a consideration if Bryz would take 1 or 2 year contract because of Markstrom but I don't see Bryz nor the panthers doing that. Luongo will most likely be bought out and end up there anyway.
It would complete a vicous circle if Bryz's next job was to backup Bob. |

There was talk that the biggest thing in the way of any trade is his contract. It will haunt him, and it seems even dumbass Toronto might not be willing to take it on.
Through all the BS in Vancouver, and having to play behind such a SOFT crew yet constantly be blamed for it, Luongo has for the most part been all class. Said the right things, and kept his cool. |

Less distractions? That sounds pretty pathetic for a team to buy out their goalie because the local media loves to drum up a story to get hits. It won't change, either. Mason or Emery or Jesus Christ himself would still be under the same scrutiny. |

Jersey or Calgary for a cheaper deal.
If he is bought out however I see a return to the KHL. |

Exactly. This.
Emery was good for us then got Injured...
Always been a fan of Backstrom. There's no way he's brought back with Minnys cap situation next year. Kuemper will be their starter. Or they'll sign a cheaper option.
I'd be 100% cool with a Backstrom-Mason/ Emery-Mason combo next year. |
