Hiller or Ryan will not be a Duck next year is my guess
Why not make it Hiller? Fasth has proven he can be a starter, so why have a 4.5M backup?
Thing is, who would we give up for him?
I'd rather trade for a top pairing dman with our limited assets than a goalie...
I'm expecting a lot of moves by Homer this offseason. Wouldn't be surprised if Mezzy, Bryz, and Coburn are all gone in the offseason - FLYERSROCK!
I'd stay away from Hiller for that reason, but would prefer him if the price is reasonable. Thats where Hartnell/Coburn come into play for me.
I dont see the Flyers being able to get a top d-man via a trade. I also am not a huge fan of going the route that takes the team down a project path on a player an organization has soured on. It works out sometimes, but usually teams sour on a player for a reason.
If it comes on a reasonable deal for Ellis or Rundblad so be it. I'd target Calgary to try and pry Giordano away. This team at the end of the day will have to fix this thing right, and do it through the draft. I strongly believe that.
Try and fix that D a little bit by bringing in some pieces. Sorround the kids with solid veteran leadership that will show them how to play the right way. Might take time,, and an extra season or two, but do it right.

Mezzy will not be gone unless you burn a buyout on him. No one is going to trade for him in his current state. - hereticpride

i agree about myers. we will have to pay a lot, but i don't think it'll be as astronomical as a young guy trending upwards. that's a better gamble than last yrs FA lottery approach. - isaiah520
It will be interesting to see what Buffalo does in the offseason. I don't think Myers is "off limits". If the Flyers could somehow swing a deal with one of the veteran d-men (Coburn, Grossmann, Schenn) going back with a young forward, then I think it is something they would have to consider. |

There isn't a veteran that is capable of getting the young players to show them how to play the right way, if the Coach isn't going to put the structure in place and demand certain things from the entire team. The Flyers as is, already have plenty of veteran leadership.
What are you trading for Giordano? Why do you think he's available?
Ellis is just okay, and Rundblad is very raw. |

What about Shattenkirk in St. Louis with J Bow being on their cap now? I'm sure he could be had for now for the right price.

Was not a part of that discussion, but that's fine. I'd rather not feed the beast anyway when it comes to that soap opera poop.
I don't care how he talks to the media. It's not part of being a goalie. The media asks stupid questions, he responds stupidly. The only people it affects is the media and the idiots who are gullible enough to get wrapped up in the drama. It's literally a non-issue and any fan of hockey should feel the same way. This isn't the WWE; a player's personality OFF the ice makes no impact on me.
If you think his skill-set can be found at a cheaper price for this off-season, I'd love to hear the options. I don't think it's out there. And I think the Flyers' made up their mind already with the 1-year deal with Mason. The writing is on the wall; next year is a audition for both goalies. Briere will be bought out this year. - steelydan
Again, his actions which do nothing to help limit the media BS, but more so encourage it I think is an issue. When his team constantly has to be faced with it, answer questions about it... Especially on a team with many young players.
When I think his actions become somewhat of a distraction to the team, that comes into play for me as well. None of us know really, but we will see if Bryzgalov remains a Flyer. I'd be cool if he does, but the organization better be damn sure he is the answer when the buyout window passes after next season. |

Why do we think Gio is available? Maybe because Feaster is an idiot?
I think pretty much anyone on Calgary is available for the right price right now. |

My two main candidates for trades this off-season would be Hartnell and Coburn. I'd lead with Hartnell for Giordano, as part of a larger package of course. Forgive me for coming up with things, instead of contributing nothing new just criticizing ideas.
Coaching is an issue with this team yes.
Edit: Mason showing why he shouldnt be strictly the #1. |

I dont know it would depend on the price. He is a good player but again just falls into that second tier the Flyers love to fill their D core out with. Paired with Grossman for example I could see him being alright.
No idea what he would cost, but he would be cheaper than Yandle. Thing with St. Louis is they wont have much cap room. |

Nobody here is saying that Mason should be the penciled in starter.
Even with how bad Columbus was, they soured on him for a reason. - flyer_nutter
