I am getting a somewhat bad feeling that the Flyers are going to overpay for Yandle this summer.
Only somewhat bad because I do feel they desparately need a defenseman that can transition to attack, but I know I will hate the price for a guy that has Yandle's skill set. |

The Flyers record with injuries either means someone has a voodoo doll.
Or they bring in far too many players with injury questions. Or fail to realise those that are, and put too much responsability on those players. Then wonder where things went wrong. - flyer_nutter

That's how I took it. Makes little sense. - MJL
Perhaps you would prefer if I made such dramatic statements like, "the goal is to win a cup every season".

I see...Talbot breaking his leg on a hit , yup they should have seen that coming. Rinaldo getting pushed over and spraining his ankle, should have seen that. Coburn getting checked into the boards and separating his shoulder, should have known that.
In a high speed sport with high impact people will get hurt.
As a side note..
Sam Carchidi
@BroadStBull
All injured Flyers will miss rest of yr, Homer said. That includes Rinaldo. |

I dont think Yandle is a true #1 but I also dont feel like hes as bad defensively as people think either. Hes not outstanding but with this current group of stay at home defenseman he would be perfect. |

a lot of supposing and guesswork for injuries which are a part of the game, and then the other stuff is maligning their medical staff which is crazy.
you can't actually believe this?
if you say they have traded away too many picks for aging vets in a push to win every year, and then they have no decent prospects to bring in when the injuries happen, I could go along with that |

Then they have the worst luck in all of the NHL. This isn't just this season.
They love to go after these kind of players, and continue to employ them even after injury questions continue to arise. As good as Grossman has been there were questions about injuries before his arrival, Timonen is still continued to be counted on as an iron man, Briere has had a good number of injuries ever since his arrival. Gagne has been healthy this season, but does anyone expect that next year?
Brayden Schenn already should have some question marks sorrounding his health but it will come as a huge schock if he goes down with a long term concussion. Same with Simmonds. Same with Giroux. Read.
I dont buy this whole, its all just bad luck thing anymore. This is a trend, and I'd be weary tying all the hopes of a franchise into players that do have injury questions. Every team does but not to this extent.
Yet parts of the fanbase are then suprised when the team is continously facing years with high amounts of injuries. |

I actually think he would make their top two lines so much more dynamic.
Right now they rely on G or Voracek on the top line or Schenn on the second to lug the puck up the ice. With a guy like Yandle drawing attention and then getting the puck to the forwards they will get a ton more scoring opportunities.
The cost for him is going to be scary if Homer decides he is the guy.
Trading with the Coyotes sucks. |

I dont blame medical staff.
I do believe the organization at the end of the day loves to bring in veteran players with injury questions. As well as continuing to employ players who have a lot of injury questions, then wonder why there are so many injuries every year.
Bad luck or whatever, its frustrating. |

they employ players who they know are injury risks?

I understand what your saying. Injuries happen though. I dont like to use them as an excuse bc you need other players to step up. It does seem to happen alot but at some point you need to catch a break. |

I am frustrated with their past actions of trading for vets in a push to win it all, and giving up draft picks. But I really don't think they purposefully get guys who aren't healthy.

Haha its alright.
What I am getting at is, quite a few guys on the current roster have had pretty serious injuries.
Namely the concussions.
It wouldnt suprise me to see the organization have a hard time in the future because these injuries develop into something worse, or continue to plague the team.

I'm not sure how you can state as fact something that includes multiple variables.
You say they love bringing in veteran players with injury qeustions or employing players with injury questions.. Please prove it.
Grossmann seems a bit glassy..Mezaros has run into problems over the past 2 seasons..
please tell me how Hartnell, Read, Rinaldo , Talbot have a history of injury problems. Same for B Schenn who is on pace for a full season.
Simmonds trying to jump over Giroux last year hits him in the head and he misses a few games..is that a chronic issue with him or just a random bad event? |

Will see what happens. If the price is set too high the Flyers dont have to get Yandle. |

They dont do it on purpose. They choose to ignore the fact, then wonder why the team is continously facing injury questions.
Simmonds, Giroux, Brayden Schenn, Read and Grossman have all had a decent number of injuries, and serious one's. Yet its going to be just bad luck when one goes down for a longer period of time yet again.
Let's run and re-sign Gagne ignoring the fact that its just as likely he will be out long term yet again. Put some much resposability on Timonen when he is obviously breaking down.
It is what it is at this point, and the Flyers may not be able to find better, but injuries shouldnt suprise anyone. Thats the point of all this.

the severity of the injuries and number of key guys out is really alarming
if I were the GM I would hope for the best, but especially on D get prepared for the worst.
Mezzy ?
Kimmo at his age, whether he gets a through a full season ?
Grossmann's health too is ?
The last week it looked like the Hockey Gods were trying to kill Luke Schenn too. |
