Thats ridiculous, first off Briere has way too much class to pull a stunt like that, and secondly, its in his best financial interest to take a buyout anyway

Without a buyout, he makes 5 million over the next 2 seasons

With a buyout he makes roughly 3.3 million over the next 4 seasons and can sign as a free agent anywhere he wants. I can easily see him getting a 2 year 6 million dollar deal or more, so do the math.

It's not in his best interest if he wants to stay here to be with his kids who are here... Its' not about money for Briere... The Flyers have paid him about $46M over the last 5 years...

and if he has an injury lika a concussion, their off season plans are wrecked for 8 meaningless gms. good planning...

I'm saying I won't be surprised AT ALL if he came down with some "injury" after the last game of the season or his last game of the season whichever happens first.
- phillydentist

Injury is in quotes. Just to clarify. Are saying it will be a legitimate injury, or a faked injury?

If he doesn't care about money and he wants to stay here, he could just take the buyout and retire. Heck why take 5 million to risk more concussions when he could get 3.3 million to stay home?

IF is the key. Briere has been a good soldier here. He deserves to play if he's healthy.

Briere is a good soldier and he has been very well compensated for it. The team needs to do whats best for the future of the team, not what's best for Danny Briere.

Whether Briere returns next season or not he should be in the lineup to finish out the season. The guy has been a professional the entire time here in philly.

The team is going to play him bc hes the best option they have when healthy compared to others. This team isnt going to bench him when healthy.

Why everyone have to be mad?
It's just hockey.

I love Bryz, and you know what, he is right.

Any player can be injured at any time. I guess we should just keep them all in bubblewrap in the basement of the Wells Fargo Center and not even show up to the remaining games.

I mean that would be ideal right?

I don't know how or why Danny would accept a trade. He's going to force the flyers to buy him out.
- Just5

I have no idea why Danny would accept a trade anywhere.

Pocket the buyout money and collect another paycheck from the next team. It's a bonanza. Woo-hoo.

Listen you up here Phiily, do us Sabres fans two [2] favors, please for the love of God:
1- win today's game in regulation
2- do an Amenisty Buyout of Briere this offseason...and early too!
We in Sabreland have bought into the complete rebuild that has already started with the recent trades. We are in full "tank mode" the balance of the season as we are "losing' for Drouin". We must have a top 3 draft pick ("stop winning' for McKinnon" works equally as well here too).
And I'll gladly take back Briere To mentor outr young players as we learn how to win starting next year. First time as 42 year Sabres fan that I have ever said the following...Go Flyers!

at his age and with his family situation he would be a fool to accept a trade, take the money and enjoy your retirement

He's only 34, was supposedly wanted at the TD by several teams, and isn't the first NHL player who ever got divorced.

I'd be floored if he was bought out and thereafter retired.

Flyers might want to trade a young forward for a defenseman. They should hold them out.

Don't you know, he's clearly going to get Prongered.

If anything, putting Briere back in will boost our lotto odds. Stop complaining people.
