he's a first line winger... i'd want quite a bit. start with your first rounder - FlyerMike18
Depending on just how far we slide, that's not out of the realm of possibility. |

I was all about the Flyers going after a proven goalie like Bryzgalov. What I didn't like was the length of the contract. Holmgren made a mistake with that deal. I understand he was trying to work the cap hit but its just not a smart decision. - stveshdy
i hate how we gave up on bob so quickly and committed to some career backup like bryz |

Yeah, I'd be open to adding a first rounder if not landing a NHL ready defenseman |

Doubt Hartnell would waive his NTC, but I'd want Jeff Petry - Jsaquella
I would trade Hartnell for Jeff Petry in a heartbeat depending on what else is coming back.
I'd honestly be happy with Petry and a 2nd/3rd or a prospect like Marincin or Gernat |

I do feel that Hartnell will return to the 25-30 goal level next year, though, if healthy.
That said, I'd like to keep the younger guys right now. |

Whats up with RNH? Not having a great season.
Also what is your take on Yakupov? - stveshdy
RNH has been nicked up here and there...but I don't think that's it. He's really had the yips in shooting: part of it is bad luck, and part of it that his accuracy's been really wonky. 19a in 38 games is essentially the same as the 34 in 62 he got last year, so his 4.1 sh% is the only alarming part. He's played pretty well off the puck and hasn't been sheltered that much this year.
Yakupov is electric but really impulsive. He's going to be a great player but he's prone to try to make the big play instead of the smart play. His defensive game and physicality are better than advertized but his ability to not get knocked off the puck is worse than advertized. |

That's the kind of tough decision the oilers need to make but you know as well as I how the Oilers still need a guy like Petry too.
If the Oil had a UFA dman or another trade lined up that could be a move I could see them making. |

Exactly. Gaining Hartnell and losing Petry really only fills one who whilst opening another.
You do have lots of good young D that are going to need their opportunities though. I think if you guy's trade a D, it's Petry. Both Schultz stay, Smid just resigned, and you can probably resign Whitney on the cheap. |

Everyone seems to be against trading Couturier but if you want a fix to the defense that is about the only thing of value we may have to trade. Hypothetically if you can trade Couts for Yandle and sign Streit a lot of your D problems may be solved. With a top pick in the draft you could also get someone like Drouin, Jones or Mackinnon which could help as well. If you can pick up a Drouin while trading Couts for an established veteran D-man I'm not sure a lot is lost when you have the likes of Drouin, Laughton and Cousins possibly coming in next season. - FreshFlyer
No reason to add both Streit and Yandle to the defense. And Couturier for Yandle is a trade I would not make. Also don't know how well that would fit under the Cap. And the Flyers have assets of value to trade other then Couturier.

In a season that otherwise sucks, Phantoms tie it with .3 seconds left and win in the 15th round of the shootout |

I highly doubt the Flyers will have
Giroux
Schenn
Couts
Laughton
has the top 4 centers. Someone will be traded for a defender.

And why's that? Free agent market could become flooded with defenders that could be added without giving up anyone at all.
You'd sooner see guys like Cousins traded before any of the four aforementioned |

Yeah I could see Brian Campbell, Brian Boyle (maybe Brett Burns) and James Wisniewski (long shot) being amnestied this summer. Not many more players jump out at me as being a possibility. I don't think JBo gets it from St Louis but you never know. |

You guys are only looking at players with really, really bad contracts.
Team's that don't have any really bad deals could easily end up buying out guys that don't have a ridiculous contract, but buying them out could give them further flexibility and comfort to make another moves.
While were on the subject of dmen, if there was a guy I'd be trading for that I think could make all the difference in the world and wouldn't cost a ton, its Ryan Wilson from the Avalanche. Dude is insanely under-rated and does a little bit of everything. |

For sure. But for the most part, yes, I am only looking at bad contracts. These amnesties are like gold. Im sure we will see some that shock us a bit. |

Let me see if i get this right..
1. Our offense may be worse than our defense so lets do the following because he is having a bad year that started off with a broken foot which only impacts the most important part of hockey.
2. Everyone seems to forget that over the past 7 years of his career Hartnell has scored.. 25, 22, 24, 30, 14, 24, 37 goals .
Because, like the rest of the team (other than Jake and Rinaldo) he has sucked this season people are willing to trade him for a prospect and a pick?
Please 610WIP hockey fans tell me where those goals are going to come from next season? I can hear it now "but he only has 4 this season" and no doubt that is the case but that is also not proven to be his average over the course of his career so I would suspect that coming back healthy he will be back to the normal 20-30 goals he averages.
If you can package him for a number 1 dman and in turn package couturier for a proven goal scorer then ok .. If you are moving him for a prospect dman and not replacing his goals..good luck with that. |
