that's rubbish. the CLEARLY start from the net out. bryz has ruined everything. i can't wait until we buy him out and the goals will start pouring in at the other end of the ice. - hammarby31
well, if we weren't paying twice the price for biron-level goaltending, we might have cap space for another... |

whenever we do get these guys, maybe Bob will act as a pneumonic for patience - isaiah520
Bob wasn't the first and certainly won't be the last. The Flyers have also been good to undrafted college players with giving them a chance (Read, Powe, Zolnierczyk, list goes on). |

I'd consider it without doubt. I suggested Niederberger because he's a decent goalie who doesn't cost a pick and maybe they chase him now who knows. If they don't want to move up for Fucale I'd consider
Charlie Graham (Belleville), Spencer Martin (Mississauga), Tristan Jarry (Edmonton), or Austin Lotz (Everett)
All are likely mid round choices in the draft. - ob18
it's about time I start reading up and watching some clips of these players since the draft will be here before we know it, unfortunately.
I'm always all for signing players that won't cost us a pick as it starts to make up for a lack of picks over the years. |

they should have gone further last year in the playoffs. got hosed in a penalty situation at the end of the game and lost in OT. they were the better team in that series against the rags. surprised to see them struggle as much early on. seem to be on fire now. they have good goaltending and OV seems to be going again. they could go deep. - hammarby31
lots of interesting teams this yr. i think CHI should win, but there are probably good cases that could be made for at least 4 other squads. |

Spencer Martin was the starter for them but struggled this year but talking to OHL scouts they feel he still has great upside and that to not read to deep into those numbers his team really wasn't that good even to make it as the 8 seed in the playoffs.
Charlie Graham & Tristan Jarry figure to be the front runners to replace their teams current stars next season.
Lotz I've been told just needs some coaching to mold him into what scouts feels he can be as a goalie. |

bryz has been fine this year. good enough? i guess not, but maybe if the team in front of him knew how to play with their employed personnel they might be better off. his cap hit isn't insane. hell, kimmo's is higher.

i REALLY don't want LA, Chicago, or Boston to win. honestly, i'd be fine with the Leafs winning, even though they're not that good. those poor fans deserve something good for (frank)'s sake. |

bryz has been ok overall. it's the term that kills and that's why i think he'll be amnestied after nxt yr. frankly, if a few of the names being discussed become available, i would do it after this yr...but that's just me. both eskin and garrioch indicated that bryz will be back nxt yr. |

i don't like that team, but if WSH won that would be ok...would certainly balance out the crosby narrative that we're all sick of. |

And if there's one thing I've learned over the years of draft studying (which hasn't been going on for that long since I'm 26), it's that evaluating players based solely on juniors/NCAA stats will get you nowhere. Well I guess that holds true for any level even the NHL really.

Those often end up being the steals that earn the top GMs and scouts the big bucks. High upside type of picks where ya grab a guy before they get the chance to really show off their potential.
Lotz I've been told just needs some coaching to mold him into what scouts feels he can be as a goalie. - ob18
Any idea who else in the organization handles goaltender development other than Reese at the NHL level? Is Little still involved? |

I'd say Reese at the NHL level but the goalie scouting is probably mainly on Little.
The 3 goalies I look at for the draft in order would be Fucale, Jarry, Graham. If Fucale is available for the Flyers in round to I'd probably sprint to the podium.
I recently signed up for Hockey Streams, I mainly focus on the OHL & some QMJHL. I try for the WHL but the late start times really limits it. But I also ask a lot of questions to scouts or those who write about each league to get a better idea on players. |

After we discussed the possability of Florida buying out Campbell I got to thinking that Florida has better options with him. Here's what I mean.
1. They keep him and pay about $21.4 over 3 years and stink.
2. They buy him out and pay about $14.2 over 6 years and stink.
3. They try and trade him for anything they can get and stink. Tough sell with the large cap hit.
4. They absorb some of the cap hit in a trade for higher value and stink.
Is it legal under the rules for say the Flyers to offer Florida this years 2nd rd pick for Campbell and Floriday absorbs $1.6 million a year in cap money for 3 years.
Not debating if they would do it, but is that legal? |

And that's why I trust your opinion more than most on here and twitter . I definitely need to start doing some draft studying since I need something to keep me upbeat during the rest of the season and playoffs. |

Yes, to my knowledge a team can absorb up to half of a player's cap hit in a trade. In Campbell's case Florida could keep up to a little more than 3.5 million on the books in trading him in an effort to maximize the return. |

I'd really like to spend a week in the Mississauga area just because you have about 7 OHL teams within 2 1/2 hours for that city.
But for now Hockey streams covers the OHL, WHL, QMJHL, NHL, & AHL for me for $99 for a 1 year subscription. |

So it would really be foolish for Florida to buy him out and get nothing when they could trade him for a decent return and lose less money. He does have the no movement clause though. |

i think they'd have to work it out where the $$ that FL would pick up would be evenly dispersed over the rest of the contract. i think the key thing might be the cap hit which i think stays as per the contract...that part would be most painful. but, i'm not the CBA expert here, so this could be incorrect. i would check w/ MJL.

That would be awesome. I've only been to Canada once (Montreal for 4 days), but would love to go up there for a week and just check out some junior hockey. The closest I got to doing that was when I almost went up to St. Johns when TJ Brennan was on the Fog Devils because my cousin is best friends with him. But unfortunately, I had to back out.
That's a pretty sweet deal, I may have to invest in that next year. |

Exactly. In my opinion, no chance Florida buys out Campbell. Too many teams would kill to have him especially with how the FA class looks. If they ate a couple million off his cap hit, I would think teams would be lining up trade offers for him. But who knows, I've been wrong plenty of times before |

Been to Ottawa 3 times. Saw the Flyers twice, Gatineau twice, Ottawa 67's once, & Kingston once. |

Teams with potential buyouts will certainly shop those players around. The NMCs will cause some problems though. |

Awesome. Were the 67's games in recent years? Would be awesome to have seen Ceci, Monahan, and Toffoli play on the same team.
Edit: and IIRC, Mrazek was on that team too. Wow. |
