he had an easy game
look at his numbers in his first few games, and then what he has done once ruff got fired, amazing difference
I just wanted to stop by and say hi |

- Marc D

HF boards are usually a bit of a joke, but maybe this post comparing monahan vs barkov is accurate:
2 totally different players. Monahan plays with intensity and grit mostly. Barkov plays with confidence and never seems to be under pressure. Monahan has good offensive instincts, barkov has insane stickhandling skills with and without the puck. Both are strong two way players. Monahan is better skater, Barkov is stronger. Barkovs game is based on his high hockeyIQ,positioning and smarts, monahans game is based on tight forecheck and high tempo. It's like choosing Datsyuk from Toews. Teams who will draft them will be set for a while in center position. Love to see them at WJC against each other.

Nice write Bill. I whole heartily agree. Though I still think this season is more of a learning/rebuilding/anomaly than an accurate potrayal of the talent and drive on this team and we would be lucky to keep Danny here as I do feel he's going to have a much better season next year. |

Out of curiosity, how can he have insane stickhandling skills without the puck? |

Nobody can take the puck off him when he doesn't have it. Uncanny |

eh he's getting into the late 30's, and hasn't been a point per game player since he's been here, which to me if he's going to be a one way guy, has to be reaping a ppg. I know all the hooplah about his playoff performances but if you stink in the regular season, there is no playoffs. I had this discussion with several here about a year ago and said a player needs to contribute in both the regular season and playoffs. I was told the Flyers are a lock for the playoffs. Well guess what they aren't a lock for the playoffs unless they win regular season games and mediocre performance in the regular season hasn't worked out too well this year, for Briere or any of the other players. |

Bill,
Is there any more news about the Flyers contract offer to Nikita Zaitsev? He sounds like a great potential defensive prospect with a lot of offensive upside. Any information would be much appreciated. |

I'd imagine if he had more info it would have been part of the info or major outlets would also be tossing info out. |

How can we tell if this is true?
I think it means he highsticks players without refs noticing.
Umm, everyone lets keep Coots please, ty. Only in Phllly can a player go from guaranteed Selke trophy winner to goat in the course of half a season while playing on the 3rd/4rth line flanked by stiffs. |

General manager Paul Holmgren says the Flyers will choose the best player available, regardless of position. Pressed on the issue, Holmgren conceded that if a forward and defenseman were equal, he'd probably pick the latter.

No surprises there, hopefully he means it. Because I'm all for drafting the best player at our pick (as of now, presumably a forward) and using our depth at that position to improve our D. Not to mention, historically speaking, the team is much, much better at drafting forwards so I'd prefer they draft the forward for that reason as well. |

You should see his passing skills while on the bench. Feathery.
His shot between periods? Wicked. |

We will see at least 3 D should go in the top 10. Jones we may not get so it could be down to Ristolainen or Nurse "IF" it was a d-man they selected.
Still go BPA though. |
