I'm fine buddy I asked a question and got jump over. Your telling the wrong guy to settle down - MaJaHa25
It's a fine question but Bill is usually on top of these things and many here will also mention it should be brought up by a person such at Bob McKenzie or other with good solid reps.

We will see at least 3 D should go in the top 10. Jones we may not get so it could be down to Ristolainen or Nurse "IF" it was a d-man they selected.
Still go BPA though. - ob18
Pulock is a good defensive player as well wouldn't mind putting him into the d mix as possible draft propsect |

He's on the fringe of a top 10 ranking. It will be interesting to see if he gets selected there or in the 10 to 15 range.
Solid game, wish I could see more but the Wheat Kings just had a terrible season. |

No surprises there, hopefully he means it. Because I'm all for drafting the best player at our pick (as of now, presumably a forward) and using our depth at that position to improve our D. Not to mention, historically speaking, the team is much, much better at drafting forwards so I'd prefer they draft the forward for that reason as well. - five4fighting10
I may be wrong, but if the choices are forward or defenseman, and he'll chose the latter, doesn't that mean he'll pick the D-man? |

Yes if they end up 5th or 6th it's really for me personally down Ristolainen & Nurse unless Barkov falls and I'd still seriously consider Monahan. |

Yes but I meant where we're picking as of now BPA would be a forward at pick 5 |

The best available is a crock, Homer will always pick who he wants regardless. Usually a forward. |

We need help right away. Not sure the Flyers are going to get that from the draft. |

I do think he listens to his scouts but in the end he'll pick who he feels is best. I generally don't have a problem with that mindset if they feel he'll project better. What I don't want is them reaching especially sitting with a top 5 pick at the moment.
It's not the time or place for it. |

They could but some even with being a top 5 to 10 pick will need extra time to blossom. With the cap era they'll need to be better in the draft as well as patient in letting them develop.
The cost to make a trade is now very high and in most cases not worth the cost. Build from within make it work for them so if they want to make a depth move no picks ever have to change hands. |

No, he is not related to former Flyer Moe.
But he is the grandson of André Pronovost, a four time SC winner with the Canadians.
Just a wee bit of trivia. |

I like Mantha but watched him some in the Q playoffs and I'd take him not before 15 to maybe the 20 range. He'll need some time. |

I'm down with building from within but that takes time (3-5 years). Waiting for that to come around is something the Flyers dont do. |

Not saying Homer's chair is hot - but perhaps a little warm, shall we say - but can we trust that he'll select the d-man who is projected to be a better prospect than the forward who will contribute more quickly? |

They may not have a choice, against the cost to land players is crazy high. Take that on with the cap and they'll have a choice go for it every year and never have a system (we've seen how that's been in recent years)
or
Build the system up take the pain now but enjoy the LONG rewards or it later. Right now we have Laughton and Stolarz and some who may have some level of impact but to what degree we don't know just yet.
I take the draft, develop, & deal with the pain now. Free agency is giving less and less to pick from so it's time for this direction. |

Homer's see has to be warm but not hot yet to the point of he needs to go.
Personally I feel unless he has a chance to select Barkov or Monahan at the forward spot who can both come in probably now and contribute the rest will need time to develop & round out their games in their respective junior leagues with the possibility of AHL.
So nobody here should be expecting whomever they select to jump in and help now because it's not a likely scenario. |

Flyers nuggets from Garrioch:
Here are some buyout candidates:
Ilya Bryzgalov, G, Philadelphia: His buyout would be $23 million spread over 14 years, which means he would be on the payroll until 2027.
Many in Philly believe the Flyers won't make this move and buyout centre Daniel Briere instead.
If the Flyers decide to fire coach Peter Laviolette, then minor-league coach Terry Murray will be a top candidate as a replacement. Feeling is Laviolette has lost the team completely and Flyers have no structure.
The Winnipeg Jets decided not to deal D Ron Hainsey, but he will move on as a UFA on July 5. Hainsey, who has been averaging 22:59 of ice time a game this season and is making $4.5 million, will be highly sought after. The Flyers need blueline help along with the Senators, however, there will be a lot of teams interested. You can expect Philly to make another pitch for Phoenix D Keith Yandle again in the off-season. GM Paul Holmgren wasn't able to get a deal done for Yandle at the deadline and passed on a chance to get veteran D Dan Boyle from the San Jose Sharks.

Under the new collective bargaining agreement, the salary cap will fall to $64.3 million, teams can use a total of two buyouts next summer or in the summer of 2014 to get under the cap. The buyout money would not count against the salary cap but it would count against the players' 50% share of hockey-related revenue.

Doesn't matter it's a path they need to go, the direction of the league is forcing them this way, I'm sure they'll fight going in it but they should embrace it. |

Even if they decide to go this route it will be short lived bc you know they will trade some of those players for current ones to put them over the top.
I want to see it but I just dont think it happens. |

He would a CBO which is not spread out over anything. It would has ZERO issues on the cap. Of course I could be wrong. - ob18
I think he means they still have to pay him the 2/3rds due or whatever it is, when he says he remains on the payroll.
His $ come off their cap for certain. |

I'm sure it will be tough and require something they haven't had much of which is patience but they need to give it a shot first. |
