I just don't think we're going to be able to trade for a similarly skilled defenseman as one we can draft this year, so I want D...so stop pushing for O. - wolfhounds
I want the best player on the board. If that's Jones or Ristolainen or Pulock, I'm fine with that. |

Aww ok, forgot about that, although it seemed familiar. Honestly my money would have been on Kimmo. - ShootingSemin
Speaking of Kimmo though, that hit he had in the 2nd....damn. |

Please name them. You have always been quick to defend criticisms of Carter. Sure he took some unfair criticism here but Grace's critique is not of the hater variety we often see here. - Flyskippy
Sure it was. She called the player lazy. Couldn't be more untrue. And shows a clear bias.

If they're picking 7th, they can grab Nurse or Ristolainen.
There's almost no way I can be upset where they pick. I like every prospect that could be likely to take in the top 15 - Jsaquella
Boy would 15th be a disappointment at this point or what? I'd feel more comfortable with Ristolainen, strictly on reading all the hockey writeups. |

15th means they are in the playoffs, so, no...not a disappointment |

Always draft best player available unless it's just so close that the difference is negligable. Teams that draft for need often reach and over time that kills a franchise. |

I agree. If there's little or no difference on your board, maybe then go for position. But if one guy is clearly ahead on your board, you take him. As Bill said, if Monahan or Lindholm are there, he'd take them over Ristolainen or Nurse.

Yes. He's not likely to be a "franchise" guy, but could be a Timonen level guy. |

I mentioned Freddie Mitchell earlier whic was drafting for need. yikes! I fear the birds draft Geno Smith who IMO would be a horrible 4th pick of the draft. Saw him play at least 5 times. No thank you. |

Aside from the top 3, does anyone project as an NHL player right now? |

Barkov could probably step right into the NHL. Probably Monahan, as well. I'd say that Pulock would have an outside shot, because he's a very smart player, sound positionally.
Nichushkin, the biggest wildcard of the draft, has the talent to step in, as well, but there's some of that "Russian signability" nonsense.
EDIT: Elias Lindholm probably could play in the NHL soon, too. Another smart player that has good hockey sense. |

It's an old blog, and I stated my opinion that in that blog. Lehtonen doesn't play on the Flyers, just as Price doesn't. But Bryzgalov does. I also don't need to have someone else validate my opinion. I can stand alone with my opinion, and I can back it up. - MJL
i said pretty much the same thing the day before that blog. bill made a cogent argument and you disagree... like you did the day before he posted it, w/ me. but you can't let that go at that so here's a solution - stop worrying about ascribing motives or making accusations and try agreeing to disagree. that way we can all get along and keep this fun. |

barkov already has the nhl body. might not be the best choice, but he's not scrawny by any stretch. |

Here's something you could understand. Freddie mitchell had 90 catches lifetime and was barely a starter. Todd Heap, a TE, ended his career with 499 catches and made the pro bowl 8 seasons. Eagles needed a wr, not a TE. Case closed. I should add that I doubt anyone had Mitchell higher on their board than Heap. |

Barkov was also playing in a men's league at 18 and averaging near a point per game.
If they're outside the top 3, Barkov would be a great pick. |

Ok, Geno Smith had a great workout in shorts and a tee-shirt. Very similar to Russell Martin. Eagles need a QB. They should take the best player on the board. |

Yeoman work in the game from the defenseman. Playing shorthanded. Big performance from Luke Schenn. Loving that trade more and more everyday. |
