so they take half a game off at a time roughly, which by my calculation comes out to half a season off. - JoeRussomanno
And they obviously forgot they had the first half of this season off already. |

well you should have no respect for this team today then. - JoeRussomanno
I'm not sure its lack of effort, rather lack of direction and FOCUSED effort. Guys like Voracek, Simmonds, Read, Couturier etc... are playing hard, just not smartly. It's one of many reasons why I eagerly await a coaching change. On the other hand, Tocchet was just dogging it on purpose to try and force a trade and thats just inexcusable! |

I will always cheer this team on. I will NEVER cheer for them to lose. But lets be honest here. We have a great chance to get a future all star player in this draft--- whether its Darnell Nurse, Alexsander Barkov, or Sean Monahan. I cant say ill be upset if they play like poop and lose again. Habs are still fighting for the #2 seed and prob wont be happy getting shelled by the Leafs yet again...
Honestly in these last 7 games Im hoping for about 3-4, or 2-5
Not to mention this is a road game... Habs 13-5-3 at home, we're 5-15-1 on the road... |

Maybe someone should sit them all down and make them play more games or something....
Kinda like Mr. Hand did with Spicoli at the end of "Fast Times at Ridgemont High".
- johndewar
But seriously, who's getting most of the blame for this season? key word being most as there are sects of fans who most assuredly have their favorite target for whatever reason, but most of it is on the goalie. So again, it makes sense that an agent would advise a prospective nhler like Hartzel to go to friendlier climate. |

2-5 would be almost be a pipe dream at this point, I can't see them getting even a point tonight and tomorrow. Honestly, I think you are looking at something along the lines of 1-5-1 for a total of 40 points and a finish somewhere between 26-28. |

There is effort, but there's no accountability and no discipline....the good news is, Carchidi says Laviolette is coming back.
I'd literally rather see Wayne Cashman |

I dunno...I kinda look at this team like a drunkenly constructed jenga tower.

The thing is, the blame on Bryzgalov isn't limited to the local media, and most of it is leveled at his personality, rather than his play. |

You could be right. I wouldn't use the word 'blame' for Bryz, but rather he's getting lots of attention for quite a few reasons: length and cost of contract, the fact he was brought in to steal games, the fact that he's played good, but not great, and his interaction with the media.
And to be fair, the Philly media isn't great, but I'm not sure how much 'blame' they should get for their interactions with Bryz. If you took Bryz and dropped him in another northeast city, it would likely be different (because nobody else has had our goalie soap opera in recent years), but I can all but guarantee there would be some 'out there' moments. |

here's how I look at this: you reap what you sow. If you play to lose it invites tragedy or bad karma, not that this team doesn't have enough but we don't need anymore. they already got screwed on one lottery and that player had few grieving his departure at the time of the trade which i think worked out well for the team but many were bemoaning it when he went on a scoring streak. So play to win and let the chips fall where they may. I'd rather go the rest of my life with the flyers getting close every 5-6 years and never winning the cup than winning one now and being a basement dweller for the next 30 years. Before anyone says it can't happen to a major market team like philly I'll gladly point you to Toronto. |

I 1000% agree. How can you keep him around after a season like this?
Look at all that talent. Its not working. The system no longer works. System= coach/ Time to rid of Lavy. |

I share your view on the construction of this team for the most part that it's poorly constructed but it should still be enough of a frankenstein to stumble into the playoffs. |

The thing I can't get past is how Paul MacLean got what he got out of that team in Ottawa and how Laviolette couldn't or wouldn't adjust here until just about everyone was injured.
But I do understand why Homer would hold off on firing him at this point....One could think of it as a self-preservation move if whatever he does in the offseason and the first few months of next year go bad, it does give him a logical scapegoat. |

With Calgary and Colorado all of a sudden winning, and we go 2-5 or worse in our remaining 7... we could be looking at the 3rd overall pick |

here's the thing with this stealing games stuff, the team has to help somewhat. They have to be able to get the puck out of the zone at some point during a shift and go maybe a period without an oddman rush for a goalie to steal a game. Furthermore he has stolen a couple games this year. THe most recent was probably the last NJ game. I thought he played pretty damn good that night. So again the criticism is still overblown. The contract is bloated but does that really warrant wrath or shouldn't that be directed to management? |

You have no clue how pissed I've been with him handling Couts. My dad and I have been pissed at Lavy the entire year the way he's been handling him. I was afraid during the season they ruined him... then look what he (frank)ing did when he got some goddamned (frank)ing icetime! He was one of our best players and scored! Whodathunkit!? Then what does Lavy do? He demotes him to play with Jay (frank)ing Rosehill, a fighter and Adam Hall, who is your pro-typical 4th liner!
Infuriating! |
