I'm hoping this team plays well but, by a series of unfortunate bounces, fluky goals, and bad officiating, lose their remaining games save for the Boston and NYR games.

look at it this way, you can have top picks every year, but if you draft poorly and play like poop you could be edmonton. On the other hand, if you draft well and play good inside an organizational identity, you could be detroit. I much rather shoot for that model than the former.

Ill say NJD is a loss...theyll be clawing to get into the playoffs. as for the canes, well we lost to buffalo so anything is possible.

-Criminally mishandling Couturier

-Inability to adjust his "system" to meet the abilities of the roster.

-Routinely outcoached by Tortorella, Deboer, Julien, Guy Boucher and others

-Inability to adjust in game, out side of yelling during timeouts

-Inability to beat the Devils, Rangers or Bruins on a regular basis

Let's sign him to a four year extension

even if we do there is no guarantee he even becomes a regular nhl player. I'd rather they pick as best they can with every pick they have with every selection than put all the eggs in the top 5 pick basket. Basically their drafting of defensemen has been horrid. They need to draft at every position imo better to increase the chances of success in terms of stocking the prospect pool.

It's been discussed, but I would like for us to go with a plan and stick to it instead of chasing other team's models for winning. Recently, LA did a great job of drafting their core, then trading prospects and picks for complimentary pieces. Even with this, you need some luck a la Quick playing out of his mind.

Someone posted that our window might be 3-5 years from now. I think it could be sooner.. 2-3 years. We're down on Cooter, Schenn etc, but there are def positives and with a stabilized D corps, I think the forwards are solid. Love what I am seeing from Mason so far. If he keeps it up, yes, there may be a decision in 2014 on Bryz. I would be shocked if he's bought out this summer. Danny B is a goner which sucks in a way because he's played so well in the clutch when properly used.. ie: Centre.

I'd be more nervous if we were playing the Pens.

The Pens franchise has far more experience and skill in the area of tanking than either of our franchises (and that goes back to drafting Saint Mario).

devils got the short end of the stick last time that happened back in 84.

Let me be clear, this team for all intents and purposes should be in the sixth seed right now. There's no reason it's not other than they are their own worst enemy on daily basis. They have underperformed terribly this year. I expect this team to be in the playoffs next year. There will have to be some personnel moves for sure but there definitely needs to be new faces behind the bench next year. Sorry chief but you need to go too, too many too many men on the ice penalties. Yes I wrote too many twice on purpose.
