It falls under the parameters of my first reason. They thought he was ready for the NHL. And decided for one or several reasons to send him back. - MJL
In other words, they weren't positive Laughton was ready for the NHL until they tested him in the NHL.
The point is, there's a gray area, an unpredictability in evaluating talent. If there wasn't, drafting would be a guarantee instead of an educated guess. |

So, any word yet on who the 6th defenseman will be tonight? - jmatchett383
I heard they found Pavel Kubina in a storage room underneath some old Nolan Baumgartner and Nick Boynton jerseys.

They made the right call sending Laughton back, he saw how it worked in the NHL and how much more he'd have to do to keep him in the league.
When he went back he played very well with Oshawa and until he was suspended in the playoffs was leading the OHL in playoff scoring. - ob18

It gave him the taste... whet him a bit.. and allow him to crave that spot.. work hard to get back there. I would like to see a couple other players given that "taste" - jak521

Yes but can they use him to prop up Shelly? Gotta make the most of your assets at this point. |

I also think part of Laughton's 5 game taste was the fact that Briere was out to start the season. Had Briere been healthy, he probably stays in the OHL all year. I didn't think Laughton looked out of place, but I also didn't think it was worth burning a year on his ELC. |

People forget that Bundy was an NHL All-Rookie selection in his first year and instantly stepped into the top 4. Lauridsen doesn't skate as well as Therien did when he was young. - bmeltzer
You're right about Lauridsen's skating, but he's not bad out there.
And the year Therien did that ('94-'95) was also a lockout shortened season. |

"Forward Ruslan Fedotenko also left the game in the second period with an apparent shoulder injury and did not return. He was boarded by Alex Galchenyuk.
With a quick turnaround before Tuesday night's visit by the Rangers, the Flyers will need to make adjustments. Healthy scratch Mike Knuble likely would replace Fedotenko in the lineup. They would probably need to make alternate arrangements on defense, likely an emergency call-up from Adirondack."
The professional hockey writer must have missed all eight of those shifts and 6:07 that Fedotenko skated in the third period. - bmeltzer
Reading this after a few hours, I notice the first bolded word has been taken out. But the second bolded line has stayed.
Umm,maybe someone should tell Frank that if Rusty did return for so many shifts it might not be necessary to replace him in the lineup.

So is Konan pronounced Conan? Cuz I'm gonna hope he's in just to lame up his name a bit.
Speak from his point of view in a Russian accent, break out the fur rugs, find my throne.
The sword is always handy, the rest might have to get drug out of storage.

She's been breaking good men for years. She's a savage. Don't cross her. Last time I saw her she was sitting on a throne of swords. |

It would probably be more of a Norweigan/Swedish accent as Cimmeria is located in present-day Scandinavia. I think that Hyperborea would be kind of Western Russia. But I say let me and your mount our might steeds and pray to Crom in Valhalla as we ride into battle and glory. |
