Ok. Id love to see the independently peer reviewed studies that show its detrimental effects on brain development.
Yeah water can shut down kidneys...if you drink enougb to sate the thirst of a small army. Anything is harmful in excess. Ridiculous argument.
You dont inhale char. You eat it. Read up on it. Be my guest. Its as bad for you as tobacco smoke.
Let me ask you this...do you enjoy having a drink or two? - sanfordnson
I love me a drink or two. Then again, you didn't ask me. |

Show me one case or study that links smoking pot to increase the likelihood of getting cancer. - robin_steele264
Ok I am gonna use some big words here robin, so get out your medical dictionary if you need, mine is in my hand. The inhalation of smoke is carcinogenic. The cells that line your airways are PSCCE or Pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelial cells. Over time, the constant inhalation causes a change in cell type or metaplasia, the PSCCE cells change into simple squamous cells, hence why people develop smokers coughs, and are sick more often, no lil cilia to sweep debris back out of the airways. After metaplasia, the cells can become Neoplastic, or neoplasia occurs, new cell growth, this is what leads to cancer. Make sense |

Deflecting from the fact you just want it legalized to get yourself high, by using all of these other arguments is clever but transparent. There is much that is harmful about it. There are risks to everything a person takes, hell even water can shut a persons kidneys down. Not to mention the harmful effects it has on the development of a persons brain, who starts smoking it before their brains are fully developed. Not sure how much char you think you are inhaling bbqing but it pails in comparison to what is inhaled smoking it, weak argument with that one. - ruttager17
I used to smoke a lot, and now only a few times a year. The benefits far outweigh the health concerns. Most of the anti marijuana reports are propaganda written for the support of the war on drugs. Yes of course there are health concerns, but compared to tobacco, alcohol, prescription drugs, hell even preservatives they are minimal and infrequent.
If it were legalized it would be controlled just like cigarettes and booze. It's not like people would be running around getting high all day everyday just cause they can. |

Yeah, makes sense to me.So it's the same as cigarettes? Not so much the herb itself but the inhalation of smoke? |

Naw, I don't buy it.
Show me some peer reviewed studies that prove your point.
You can talk down to me and act like a knob if it makes you feel smart, but you aren't proving much.

There is some studies showing marijuana as being detrimental to a developing brain, same as alcohol and carbon monoxide. If legalized marijuana would probably be subject to an age limit, like cigarettes and alcohol. Usually the human brain finishes its development halfway through puberty, so the 19 year old limit should be good. Unfortunately just like cigarettes and alcohol, marijuana will be used by younger children but the effects will be similar to underage drinking minus the puking, fighting and crying. |

There have also been studies that showed that although marijuana smoke can damage the lungs it also prevents the cells from becoming malignant.
Not to mention the American Assn. for cancer research has found that it slows tumor growth in lungs, brain and breasts considerably. |
